I think it wouldn’t be too hard for new players to get 3 squads heavily equipped with automatic weapons at level 2.
No experience is required to read maps
All you need is a pair of eyes that can see the direction of the arrow
After playing 2 or 3 games, you will be familiar with the basic terrain utilization.
I don’t think this game requires much (skill)
At least it’s not really necessary now.
Everything is currently developing towards a living environment that is more suitable for idiots.
You just need to use your brain to easily become the top 3
Besides crappy DF Bots, this is my biggest complaint about the game is people who don’t seem to try and capture or defend cap points. I get so pissed off at other teammates that I have used every American curse word I know, and made up a few recently, as my girlfriend who has to listen to my mouth can attest.
There are games where I am the only one defending a cap point, and getting blasted and killed by a tank hiding in the greyzone blasting away at the cap point. So, I will jump in my dive bomber to address the tank and while I do, the cap point falls immediately. I get the tank, but since I had no one helping, it really didn’t matter other then adding one more tank kill to my overall tally.
I’ve gotten jaded enough to start blaming systems not the people. Yes, at the end of the day people should know the rules. But the whole Tier/BR nonsense is completely confusing, the matchmaking isn’t actually explained properly anywhere…and let’s be honest…lots of people ruin their ACTUAL IRL LIVES because they don’t know the rules
At the end of the day it’s in devmans interest to improve the matchmaking. It’s one of the most consistent complaints around, people regularly even post stupid bug reports about it (which is wrong and stupid…but the problem is real). This game is the best damn FPS experience I’ve ever had WHEN THE MATCHES ARE WELL BALANCED
Sadly, even being generous…80% of the matches are awful. There are days or weeks when I do not get a hype match AT ALL.
A friend I known for a while, who tried the game after finding my stream on one of the good days actually played with me then on his own for a while…then stopped and said he’s just not interested because most matches are so stompy…or he gets 4x the 2nd teammate score and stil loses and it’s just not fun.
And I can’t blame him. I’m just too addicted to the hype matches…and the really bad ones I’ll just take a plane and literally try strafing infantry until it’s over.
Back to the “it’s skill issue”. At the end of the day it doesn’t matter. Players are how they are. It’s on the devmans to make sure the game functions better. They can’t really force players to change.
It would go a LONG way just making sure 3 and 4-stacks can’t queue for a single faction at all…so far it was almost guaranteed that any time I’d see a big stack…my team would also either be complete bots or bot equivalents with no gear whatsoever. They can just 4-stack, pick a faction, wait a minute or two and get a match with basically anyone unlucky to be caught into it (since the wait time is artifically capped)
at least some rough estimation of lineup strength - someone with starter bolties and ONE M1 Garand is eligible to end up in BR5 battle and that should not change, but they should be valued as less than a guy with 10 slots filled with fully upgraded meta lineup
at least some rough estimation of player skill - the currently existing player ranks are halfway there (yes, I know you can just go play Japan only for 3 days and be a Marshall…but at least that shows you are sentient enough to understand how to do it lol)
It doesn’t have to be mathematically perfect or provably correct. Any improvement from the current situation would be…and improvement. One thing is it shouldn’t be done as things currently happen…come out of the blue 2 years after everyone started demanding it then go back into hiding. This would need iterative work on the estimations
It doesn’t have to balance the gap.
It has to make sure it’s not top 30% vs bottom 70%.
Making sure both teams have a few good players and a few minimally competent and that the gear isn’t completely lopsided would go a long way, because currently it’s often good players on one side and complete hopeless cases on the other
I can drive with my tank to the bomb, plenty of time to get out, set the bomb and safely return to an undamaged tank. No enemy to be seen. No teammates to be seen… And this is a war game?
currently there is ±1 MM. so if you are playing BR2 you will play either BR1-BR2 match or BR2-BR3 match. only exception to this is japan-US where on BR3 you can play against BR5.
if you are seeing BR3 weapon as BR1 player you are:
Well yeah at least they could put on some restrictions on gear loadouts. Like you cant even queue unless each of your infantry squads on avg has 50% of your MM ranges weapons.
That would fix the issue of “yay i got PPSh-45 from event, lets run it with a bunch of mosins and a BT-7”, but would still allow to brind a bunch of BR I Arisaka Rifle into BR III Japan instead of their pretty meh semi-auto.
But i dont think we got enough player over here for proper skill based MM. But lets say giving the random queue buff to the nations which have been bellow 50%WR in the last 1h would probably make some decent players swap nation instead of Japan trashing allies 90% of the games.
