On the Subreddit calling everyone who wanted Battle Ratings idiots. I moved onto here a little bit after
I understood the need for the Merge. However, I was one of the very few who seemed to truly understand how the Preferred Map System would have worked and the value of it despite not even having access to test the darn thing, thank you DF for leaving all of us console players to rot in the unknown. I also play a lot of War Thunder and often bounce between the two games. I know Battle Ratings. I know what they have to offer. I want none of that in Enlisted. I play Enlisted because I LOVE Enlisted. Hands down my favorite FPS game. I play WT out of Stockholm Syndrome and the fact there is literally no other game like it. I donāt want War Thunder: Infantry Edition. I donāt want monotonous X vs X and Y vs Y for every single match. That would make Enlisted incredibly dull and the outcome of every match would more or less be predetermined. I fell in love with the Chaos of Enlisted. There could be M1903ās, Kar98kās, Stuartās, Pumaās and M2 Carbineās, FG 42ās, Jumboās, and Tigerās all in the same match as well as literally everything in between. It was incredible. No one had the same set up. Everyoneās squads were a little different. I had Normandy Allies maxed out and still had an odd Springfield or two in several squads just because I never had a need to upgrade them to something else. But the current matchmaker kind of forces some of that chaos from Pre Merge. You got some BR Iās, some BR IIās, and BR IIIās all hashing it out. Meanwhile there are BR IIIās getting their crap stomped in by the BR IVās running for BR V and the BR V mains. It isnāt the same level as Pre Merge, but hey itās good enough for me to thoroughly enjoy BR III as much as Pre Merge. I love fighting a little of everyone. Bolties, StG nerds, Pumaās Pz IIās, Tiger IIās. Iāll fight everyone the same. Equal rights and lefts for everybody
Now, everyoneās trying to run almost everything the same. All BR X stuff in every squad except for those still working towards the benchmarks. All BR III, all BR V, etc with the exceptions of those of us who either donāt know, donāt care care, or prefer one ālesserā gun to the āsuperiorā gun. For example, Iām working on upgrading the final Assaulter Squad and one of the Mortar Squads. Side note, new TT squads are stupidly easy to upgrade. I get 1-4 upgrades per match and this is an endgame squad? Absolute nonsense. It takes more to upgrade my mid tier Pre Merge tank squad than it does this end game Assaulter Squad. Anyways, that Mortar Squad? BR II. M1903ās and M1 Carbines as well as the Winchester. The Assaulter Squad changes but is usually III with some M1 Carbines on the Riflemen. My AT Squad remains unchanged and is a full III squad. Why is this? Well, I ran out of spare M1 Garandās and I donāt care enough to buy more just to deck out this random squad. I can take names with a Springfield either way, and I need to work on my M1 Carbine gameplay anyways. Itās the gun Iām the weakest on as far as US guns go. I donāt care Iām not uniformly BR III. I got the skill to make up for it plus Iām not gonna do that well anyways because these arenāt my usual loadouts, so not my usual playstyle
You make everything ±1 BR? Everyoneās identical. Everyone has the same dang loadouts in every match. Everyoneās running that āmetaā build. Some will play one faction at one BR boosting its winrate while simultaneously abandoning it at another because itās ānot good enoughā or whatever tanking its winrate there. The same thing will happen in every faction. Arguably worse than the current winrate decider of whatever the horde is playing at the moment because at least the horde migrates
I just see nothing good coming from turning my favorite FPS game into War Thunder: Infantry Edition
The system itself might have worked but not the way DF designed it.
It had massive flaws in their design.
EVERY SINGLE axis weapon sent you to normandy
Some common items sent you to 4 diffrent sets of maps meaning you dont have any control where you land and defeating the point of preferring.
Tailoring the to a map was nearly impossible due to every item sending you to at leased two diffrent maps and you need lots of diffrent gear.
These led to a dumpster fire of a testserver where you could hardly escape the meta spam and the feature you where supposed to test didnt even function properly.
What they needed was powerful gear dedicated to a map you could build around and truely neutral weapons (not sending you anywhere else) that you could fill the gaps in your roster with.
How do you build a loadout around equipment like this? Do you put this into your moscow deck and just pray that you get moscow?
Yes P47 beware the apex predator is here.
The devs bombed the test so hard the community despised the system and lost any faith of DF balancing anything around maps. Which is why the simplicity of BR prevailed.
Dont blame the community if it was the fault of the devs on that one.
I absolutely understand where you are coming from, yet you know very well that this diverse gameplay only existed because people didnāt unlock the best stuff yet - and ultimately gear would eventually be always picked according to whats the best available.
If 90% of the players unlocked everything, then 90% of the matches would basically be BR5 matches.
I still think that you have a point here.
Outside of tank balance, there isnāt a need to have many BRs, with proper and bold balance changes every class and type of firearm could be useful in its own way, but does it really need to be this way?
I mean many shooters balance sniperrifles to perform great in its own way, realism shooters however make bolt action rifles deal about the same damage as infantry automatic weapons - which is based on the real world, bolt action rifles are obsolete and rightfully perform worse than ARs in basically every aspect.
Thatās why you give one dude a single gun that would not show up on certain maps to help tailor your MM. Want Berlin? Use some Volkstrum. Want Tunisia? Use Italian. Want Normandy? Use late war. Want Moscow? Use early war. Sure, you wonāt always get what you want. You could get it fairly consistent though. All the system needed was some tweaking and it wouldāve been PERFECT. But no, people wanting Battle Ratings. The retards
What does that even mean? Almost 50% of the German stuff is āearly warā (though Moscoe is 1941-42) since stuff like the MG34, MP38/40, or the Karabiner 98 were used from day one, not even counting the Italian stuff. The Panzer II C. or the MG13 were still used in Normandy or Berlin.
All of the āearly war stuffā was used in later phases as well, excluding maybe for shit like the Panzer III B since it didnāt even appear in Moscow.
This also doesnāt work well if you consider the Fedorov or the T-34 and KV1
Exept there are no guns that excluded late war maps( only moscow and tunisia) and a single weapon was sufficient to drag you into anothere map. Even your italian weapons would drag you into multiple maps if I remember correctly.
That system just did not workā¦
Personally I think that system was too complicated to begin with, not only because tweaking of gear was all over the place - but rather because if you look at the system that we are having now, which is much simpler, the devs are still not able to put things right.
Also combine this with playing with friends, 2 dudes having italian weapons, the other normandy specific ones - what a chaos.
What you want is two BRs, early and late war - very similar to how the game worked before the merge.
(Moscow gear up to T34 and Panzer IV F2, Berlin IS2 and Tiger II)
