I’ve seen people get hit with multiple rifle rounds in real life and keep trucking and I’ve also seen someone get their shin bone shattered by Mk.262 SOST and just drop instantly.
Surprisingly (to some) it’s not super normal to get shot and have your lights get turned off instantly. Most people survive gunshot wounds and die later.
One of the reasons I enjoy the downing mechanic and encouraging people to double tap. It’s brutal.
Not gonna get super into the weeds with terminal ballistics and what is plausible/permissible in a video game but that a good rule of thumb is if a projectile enters your body at high speeds you are going to physically react, whether involuntarily or voluntary.
The only time I see double vision and have my gun sway a lot is when an explosive device or artillery shell explodes near me. Had my bell rung a few times IRL, one from a mortar landing next to me. Can’t say I remember seeing double vision but I was definitely disoriented and not really in the position to aim accurately or perform.
It was a few seconds of just my brain processing what happened, trying to fight through the concussion and getting that fight or flight thought process running.
Yes, I enjoy SMGs being more overpowered than they already are in gunfights. Giving them the ability to cause flinch just makes them stronger.
Rifles rounds can cause flinch all they want.
Well good thing the developers are only in CBT with this game and have already announced plans for other game modes. Hopefully there will be some more longer range maps and more open battlefields (like Kursk) where the COD/SMG players can get cut to pieces by bolt guns.
I hope they continue to emphasize the situational efficacy of each weapon. I’d like LMGs to have perhaps more sway, longer ADS time when not firing from a supported position. Hopefully leading to them NOT competing with SMGs for being the ultimate house clearing weapon and moving more into a support by fire role.
I do think the meta for Enlisted should be as consistent as possible, but perhaps SMG flinching should be one exception and slightly toned down. Especially considering the Soviets will have access to weapons like the PPSH-41 and PPD-40 which are gonna be devastating to face against.
I don’t think the discussion is about flinching when shot is it?
That’s not what I’m talking about - I’m talking about suppression from nearby explosions.
“Suppression” and “neutralization” are objectives of artillery fire - suppressing is pretty much exactly what “a bit of sway” simulates IMO - the inability to shoot back accurately unless you are lucky.
“Neutralization” is sort-of vaguely what I think is being simulated by “a bit of sway plus blurring” - the inability to act in any deliberate manner at all for a short time.
These are REAL WORLD ™ effects that a game that claims some level of realism does need to have in it.
why flinch discussion happen again?
everyone agree it dumb
at most, rifle round should cause flinch but even then it just impose another penalty from get shot (when lose health is already penalty in place)
it pointless, really
glad all could agree i am correct
I agree, consistency across the board is always a good thing. Meta shouldn’t be turned on it’s head at campaign level 6 or what have you. Maybe toning them down would be fine. I think this issue will definitely become more relevant when the M1 Thompson, PPSH41, PPS43 and STG44 all get introduced and we start seeing even more automatics on the field.
This is also a good point for just completely stripping the vitality perk. Easy counter to all these high mag cap, low recoil automatics is OHK bolt actions. IMO for bolt guns to continue to be relevant they need to be able to down people abruptly and decisively.
TBH PPD40 drum mag squads are super annoying to fight because they are low recoil buzz saws with a huge magazine. I don’t complain about it because the Russians were smart and invented ripsaw SMGs and gave them gigantic magazine capacity and I’m fine with dealing with asymmetry.
the tokarev round was a super hot round at the time considering 1940s loading tables and is still considered a fairly high velocity round. As much as I don’t want one sided stomping I also want the Russians to be able to enjoy some of the really unique and devastating weapons they levied against the Wehrmacht. (Just like I don’t want my FG-42 or STG44 gimped ) Hopefully there will be a nice ground struck by the devs that leaves a unique experience with the guns continuing to feel powerful without upsetting the WRs Screenshot_39|690x264
any time anyone complains about removing/adding something for the sake of realism I suggest they look at the main page of the website for the game their playing. This is a part of the developers mission statement for the production. ie a core concept.
Like I said, I’m cool with flinch staying in Enlisted. But maybe for automatic weapons it should be almost half of what it is now. I play Enlisted solely for the fact that it’s aiming for realistic/hardcore gameplay too.
With squad composition rebalancing and it being more dificult to stack SMGs/LMGs into a squad I’m wondering if this will continue to be such a glaring problem or it will kind of fade simply due to the lack of regularity.
And trust me I’m not pretending like it doesn’t exist. I’ve 100% been stunlocked and it can definitely get frustrating. Mostly I blame myself for letting some goober get the drop on me.
We’ve also gotta keep in mind the Premium squads. M2 Hyde, MP-41, PPK-41, MG-30, Chauchat, etc. All of the current Premium squads are fully decked out with automatic weapons.
It’s something I’ve been thinking about. Patch isn’t implemented so I don’t want to put the cart before the horse but it could definitely draw more attention to any perceived disparity between premium squads and regulars if PPK and MP41 squads are just ripping through rifleman on the manor/castle maps.
Obviously there’s the option of keeping all current premium squads as legacy squads and redesigning the structure of future premium units thus being our reward for CBT participation while also tuning the P squads to fit the new infantry ecosystem.
I know in WOT and WT every once in awhile you encounter some odd ball premium vehicle that was available during their CBTs and it was just ridiculous to face. It was never encountered enough to draw a lot of outrage though. Maybe it’s not the best answer but it’s an example of a legacy item being left in while the game power creeps/changes.
Yeah that’s a problem I’ve been seeing with the Moscow campaign. Why use a Mosin Nagant when I could light people up even from somewhat far away with a PPK-41 or vice versa with the MP-41?
Yeah it seems like I either run into PPK/D swarms or multiple epic zaitsev snipur squads skirting the edges of the map while the 1 or 2 soviet rifle squads playing the objective get swarmed by MP41 sturmtroopers.
I love my MP41 squad but honestly I’ve removed them from my lineup I literally never draw assaulters anymore so I have no soldiers to train with them. I have 89 billion troopers so I’ve been running around slapping people with bolt actions and honestly I find it more satisfying.
I have a couple max star bolt guns and they can be dangerous in the right hands. Maxed out bolt guns will OHK a premium squaddie.
I notice a lot premium squads aren’t played very smartly, they just run around trying to face roll people so it’s pretty funny when I encounter them with a maxed out bolt gun and kill half their squad before they even turn on me.
I have some friends cooperate with Gaijin and DF as some 3rd party role. They all says Gaijin is pretty rich (ofc, russian’s biggest game company). But some thinks DF is short on money.
But they still dont know how to make money properly.
