CLEARLY put the sight of the front jumbo back, it’s a real nightmare to pilot this tank, we can see the scenery on the ground more, at the slightest movement it’s black screen (seen from the tube) I am quite aggressive with my jumbo, but it’s dead !!! impossible to push aggressively under these conditions. forced to camp … because we can see nothing, I tried the Germans it does not pose a problem because they are already very stable base, clearly the Germans have taken a technical buff because suddenly their mobility is fair abused since they are not affected by this new sight. But in jumbo it makes its gameplay shit, if you want to perform with literally must camp with and especially not to move!
New tanks sights maybe are better for tanks vs tanks but shooting fast moving infantry groups is much harder and unprecise. For me sensitivity feels just too high. It’s basically a major nerf for tank machine gunner. And now you can’t really see what’s happening to you further to sides. And new small weapon zooms also sux but that’s for another topic.
That’s because the Field of View of the gunner seat is about 2% now so your super zoomed. Moronic change if you ask me, we don’t need realistic tanks in a game that isn’t one bit like real combat.
I agree with this, the new changes basically makes it easier for you to shoot at longer distance targets, at the cost of making it really bad for your eyes. Anyone who plays Tanks prior to this can get what im saying. it does cause disorientation issues for the eyes. Especially the Zoom
I have to agree, logging in today, after the update, the tank view is so zoomed in. It’s difficult to use on most maps where buildings are everywhere. I understand trying to recreate the realism, but there are so many 1-shot explosive packs floating around playing the tank isn’t fun atm.
The zoom is more of a headache than they arty that was shaking screen 24/7. It’s not comfortable and will drive people away from this game. I know you listen to our feedback so i hope it can be balanced but also playable/fun.
if the issue is realism, then explain why the tank drive through sand like it’s concrete. Do You realise it would move a bit and make driving a bit less messy. Now with the zoom driving through beach i might as well go blind and just hope to stay alive or try to shoot across whole map.
i might be taking a break from this game, i like that it’s getting support, but some of the changes are making me just mad, and i am not wasting my time being angry on some game.
+note: Please make more default spawns and preferably 200m away from points if You won’t be balancing plane bombing any time soon (just punish suiciders with like 5m timers, as someone suggested)
After playing on open maps I can see the advantage the zoom has. Is there anyway to just give the original view with an option to right-click zoom to the new view or is the preferred method not to drive with the turret view?
I lost count how many same threads today… Guys you have commander and driver, use them, when you spot targets, switch to gunner.
These tanks had these magnifications, for some of them it is a benefit, for some of them it is a pain in the … ask the designers why they put it like that, same as you could ask for armor and gun.
Tanks are more than just armor and caliber/length of a gun. Number of crew, visibility from inside (not just the gunner view, but all other view slots), radio etc, etc.
Its like you are saying Panzer 4 had 75 mm gun but they didn’t have that modeled in the game so they slapped on 50mm and it was perfect.
I got today quite a lot of kills with tank but played more from short-medium/medium distance. Maybe people will get accustomised to new changes and there will be less threads, but i still feel it’s somewhat nerfed now vs infantry. New sight is shaky and sensitive AF and i can’t say i had a lot of fun playing tanker now. I agree with your other post that if they add crosshair and enable cannon/mg on primary commander view it would help a lot with this problem.
And remember, if they ever add Soviet T34 to Moscow, it will not have this feature which will be a good balancing factor for it.
Meh, I actually LIKE those new optics.
They DO need time to get used to, but it really enhaces immersion for me.
When you drive, the extra zoom bothers you? Switch to the guy whose job it is to drive! Or the commander. Suuuure, their view is narrow but so it was in real life in those tanks.
It’s also a boon for some weaker tanks: say you drive a low tier pz3, and spot a t28 that hasn’t spotted you yet. NOW you have have a chance to aim better at It’s few weakspots before he one tap your tank. (Of course it’s easy to one tap german tanks still)
It’s also better for infantry: tanker players won’t merely trash through enemy positions (with faster tanks), they must be cautious, now.
I hope those sight stays, playing a tank should NOT be easy and rack you tons of easy effortless free kills (well you still can but you’ll at least have to work harder for it.)
Edit: for those that didn’t know, most tank gunners have view port beside the gun sight… use that mouse wheel people!
Also one upside i possibly see is that now axis could aim more preciselly at Jumbos weakspot in front, axis tankers could finally have a chance to destroy camping Jumbos on airfield and d-day but need to try it out in action first…
True! If it works in moscow it also should in Normandy. I should try germans of that campaing someday (I’m mostly allies in that one)
Imo this was a great change.
Pushes the tank further out of the engagement areas. Makes it a support vehicle in all rights. Can’t push into fights without teammates covering your flanks. Everything that the tanks should be. The manner in which this is done is weird but it works. So, good job devs.
I just tried fighting some Jumbos with Pz 4 H on Airfield, not the best tank for fast flanking so I tried to test out new zoom from front. Sadly nothing changes. Zoom magnification is lot more powerful. But whole aim is too flickery, while you’re being shot at the same time. Hitting that weak spot is very inconsistent, sometimes green crosshair appears for 0.1 second then dissapears, sometimes direct hit with green crosshair does nothing, sometimes it takes out only 1 tanker. I don’t know if it’s bug but colorful crosshair often isn’t in line with center of zoom Noticed same thing with AT guns before. Not sure if it’s my lack of my practice or hitboxes for Jumbos are completely off . Maybe they will soon introduce Panther G on Normandy to finally counter it.
It’s not a bug the green marker appears in the middle of where you look at. But your canon is either to your right or left. So let’s say you aim at something and your canon is tou your RIGHT, aim a bit LEFT and you will be spot on.
The sights are ok, the 3 seconds it takes to zoom all the way in is hell though.
I would love to switch to commander, but please have them at least try to hide.

This is a nice idea in theory. In practice it doesn’t work well in its current state.
Just driving around obstacles is difficult. Also people don’t mark much in this game sadly.
Doesn’t nerf tanks just means that need to find a good camping spot far away from infantry.
I mean, the commander position would be fine if you didn’t have to play hatch-up to move the turret while in the position. (and that different commander internal views worked on more tanks)
