The "new" radioman supply crate is a bit disappointing

They should me more like the paratrooper crates where one can supply their soldiers with a variety of equipment.

At the moment it’s just a less convenient version of the ammo boxes good ol’ engineers can build. It takes time for it to get airdropped to your desired location and that location mustn’t have anything obstructing the sky. The only pro it has over regular ammo boxes is the ability to deploy it anywhere on the map. But let’s be honest, how often have you thought to yourself “Gosh darn, my allies on the other side of the map need ammo ASAP, but my engineers can’t get to them! If only there was a way to bring them ammunition from afar…”

Either way they leave much to be desired, so that’s why I propose to change them to be more like the supply crates paratroopers get. Other teammates can still approach the crate and grab ammo if needed, but your own squad would get the ability to choose from a variety of arsenals suitable for the situation at hand, same as paratroopers. Summoning these crates from the sky should also, of course, have a decently big cooldown (something like 5mins).

I think this change would make the radioman a lot more engaging and a desirable member of your squads. It would also somewhat lessen the power disparity between regular troops and roided up paratooper supersoldiers, who have always been, and still are, just too op.

Agree i haven’t used it even once during usual gameplay and haven’t seen anyone calling for them.

What’s the point of them if i could just build ammo box or respawn with another squad. It’s one of the many half baked idea that DF has implemented without even caring if it would make game better.

Good idea ,but I think the ammo box gives radio men some versatility.

The improved version which you’ve suggested should be a separate crate the radio man can call in

Also I have some ideas to make that standard resupply box better:Supply drop suggestions

Mmmm i agree too but less dregress the coolding time to 4 mins because change your weapons only one time and without considering that your teamates cannot change their weapons and only refil ammo so reducing the time is a better option ( this without the radio man reload upgrate)

I read your suggestion and it’s pretty good. I agree that these supply boxes should AT LEAST also resupply all of your other equipment as well, especially explosives. If that were the case these things would get used A LOT more often

I think whipping out 3 machineguns for your squad is a fairly strong ability hence the long cooldown, this cooldown would also be independent of other cooldowns like artillery strikes and such, so you can still call upon those while waiting to get another crate

Yeah make supply drops special like letting us refill our grenade, and medikit

the actual crate was suggested from other users a rework in where it can resuply shrings, grenades, mines or even flasks, but oh well

I’ve called it in like twice and and once was to put a crate onto the point for my team, that was it.

I think they’re fine. My only suggestion is that it supplies Meds as well

They’re great for when your Engineers aren’t doing the job of building Ammo boxes. You never know when you’ll need Ammo.

The drop points are now pretty accurate, but there is little benefit to using them on the attacking side. I feel sorry for the pilots risking their lives to drop one box on the battlefield.
They should drop multiple boxes, like in the login bonus artwork!

Usually only call it in if I’ve been locked out from arty by another teammate calling artillery, as an overlap.

Would be cool if it contained materials for engineers to restock on construction capabilities

That would be worth it.

I could see them being somewhat useful if a mortar player needs ammo (who is actually killing stuff instead of slamming mortars onto a roof for the entire game)

I am a veteran in this game - but I have never used Mortars before - not a single time.

I thought mortars couldn’t resupply or what?
Because what you describe sounds actually kinda cool, having one player that plays radio and one that does mortars - a indirect fire team of two players helping each other.

In theory ofc.
