The game’s faction trend damping ability is shit

nah it isnt… 4 stacks make really insignificant amount of players compared to random solo MM. you will almost always get imbalance in either way cause quality of players in queue is random. when you have some events or updates to TT veterans are usually playing factions with new equipment making shit experience for opposing faction.

it is impossible to improve them without removing faction vs faction MM.

Dunno, stacks does stand out quite well what comes to my own experience.
When theres no stacks, the game can end up either way.

yeah stacks swing game in one direction pretty easily, but you get same result with 2 or more solo veterans against team of shit players. majority of playerbase are pretty shit players, so number of veteran players per team is what decides the outcome.

i hardly see balanced matches that can go in either direction. you will either see one team easily win with enemy providing some resistance or you will see roflstomp. when there is no obvious faction stack, then games can go to either faction, but they are still imbalanced cause of quality of players in match.

To put it this way, ive had plenty of somewhat balanced games against 1-2 good solo players.
Against a stack its just waste of time. Simply cant be in 4 different places at same time.

Sure, uneven setup is uneven. Regardless is it 4 good solo players vs usual mouth breathers or 4 stack.

And sure, majority of the games are just shit.
But as above said, from those game that were even remotely balanced or fun, most ive had against good solo players.
And a game against stacks is just waste of time.
Dont even remember such game where there was a stack vs stack.

I think groups should be playing custom matches instead of general matches, that might improve the match making for everyone else.

yeah, but those game are in minority. it is either your or enemy team that is having lots of good(or at least decent) players and you are against or with team full of shit players.

i agree. this definitely needs to be fixed. solo players shouldnt go against stacks.

i agree with all of this, but problem is that balanced games are minority and that wont change unless they take some drastic measures in MM like removing faction vs faction and introducing some aspect of SBMM(either full SBMM or distributing both teams with equal number of good/shit players).

I already made a highly detailed suggestion on the issue with a list of possible improvements.
All of it got ignored.
I doubt Darkflow cares about the balance issue at all.

the trend buffer is called join-any-team-button.
this significantly improves balance. big spikes as from events still happen, but in a softer way and they cant be removed completely without deforming the game in a negative way.

the current main problem of imbalanced matches is stacking, which creates high variance games. this can be solved in multiple easy ways, but only if DF ignores the usual spergy whining.

while join any helps, it is not actual solution for uneven matches. i use it cause i have everything researched and i am not faction main, but lots of people are faction mains or at least prefer to play one faction cause of grind.

they have most impact in match cause they roflstomp enemy team, but ultimately they affect minority of games. even without stacks you would still have heavily imbalanced games.

I choose any faction 90% of the time, it just a “click to suffer” button

I am guilty of never using the “Join any team” button. I just prefer playing the game from a historical perspective, as if I were really a WWII soldier.

Sure, aka majority of games are indeed just shit.

While I agree, this is not exactly simple problem to solve.
Sure 4 stack vs random mouth breathers is unbalanced beyond imagination.
But at same time, feels bit odd to punish stacks for playing the game as its intended as a team.
By insane que time ( find another stack against them )

Yep SBMM has been suggested long before the merge but so far not much has changed.
Except the BR’s ofc, which was a step to right direction tho.

just look japan, the least played faction, forgoten by company in event,premium and tech stuff, its a fun faction for play, but the map design make people stay away and the weapons, I hope they give them a bit more love…

I don’t think the Japanese faction has any problems with trends, on the contrary, when I randomly go to Japan I feel like they are the faction least affected by trends.(BR5)

Of course, if you don’t agree with what I said, you can still agree with my suggestion so that you can see if Japan suffers.

Although the game moves by population waves, Japan is the one with the least population compared to Germans, Americans and Russians, because of this and because we are a niche, in my experience they are where the most intense battles are lived in high br, but in low br (TALKING ABOUT THE EUROPEAN SERVER) is where it is easier to play because the Americans simply deflate, even so I continue saying, Japan suffers, but not because of lack of players, but because as I have shown in several posts and recently participating in one in which the work of several users is compiled including myself, there is a lot that could be added for low, intermediate and high br but for some reason the other three nations are always prioritized, hell until they gave us the pistols, the radiomen and the paratroopers a whole year had passed without receiving a single damn event or some premium unit, yes, some things to the tree, but nothing more, Japan deserves more maps and more equipment

japan was / is by far easiest faction to play from br 1 to 5.

Sure, i did that “grind” months ago but didnt really notice too many frequent incidents of getting stomped by murrican stacks. Arguably biggest “balance” issue was the murrican planes spawning on sky and JP planes having to take off from carrier.

I just stick to BR2, there aint much anything in between BR2 - BR5. Grind the BR5 equipment ready and then move on to BR5.
Sure this highlights the lack of equipment in JP tree.
But that was actually the thing I liked most about JP tree, no tons of duplicate mandatory grind shit.

On BR5 JP could hold its own just fine against murrica.

Absolutely, plenty of stuff to add for JP.
But for the love of god no cluttering with technically identical duplicates.

I think that if you enter a scoreboard with statistics of faction wins, then players will either play mainly only for the factions that win or will not play at all because the faction they play for loses in the end, both options will only worsen the problem
