I can’t believe that part of the community is defending what is widely known as a racial slur, I mean I’ve seen some really crazy stuff get by on this form before but this is taking the cake
i think he’s trying to educate you as well, history is different for different places. In US you had a problem with slavery and racism against black ppl, but in Europe some 500 years ago it was the other way around, the white ppl were slaves to the Ottoman empire.

It’s not only in America like I said above it was used in Britain and in Canada and in every other English-speaking country that was involved in the war and for years prior to and since as a racial slur

Not in the West, just in the USA, or maybe in the Anglo-Saxon world (US, UK, Canada and so on). It’s the same as with blackface - it’s only a problem for you (I assume you’re American), while it’s not considered offensive in other parts of the world.

Because I’m a native speaker of English I’m well aware of what words are racist and what words are not because I live in a community where I’m gonna be judged by what words I use.
And this is the English speaking section so if you’re not a native speaker of English and somebody tells you that word is generally considered to be offensive in that community of native English speakers then they’re doing you a favor

It may well be that it’s not but again you’re in the English-speaking section so why would you go to the trouble of coming off as offensive to a large percentage of that community when you could easily avoid doing it by just typing out the word Japanese
