Greetings, Commanders.
A momentous day in human history is fast approaching—the 80th Anniversary of the Victory in World War II, the war against fascism. This victory, sacrificed for by peace-loving people across the world, saved humanity from the abyss of fascism and militarism.
In this game, we have witnessed history and shaped it ourselves. Together, we have:
· Celebrated the “250th Anniversary of the U.S. Army.”
· Obtained the historically significant German MP40 submachine gun in the Winter Event.
· Participated in the grand marathon for the “81st Anniversary of D-Day” and earned the German Sturmgeschütz II.
· Grinded through the large marathon for the American XA-38 Grizzly on May 7th.
· Completed the small event named “Soviet Prototype Tank Day,” which, to our complex and indescribable disappointment, did not even feature the T-34 prototype. (The contrast is striking, to say the least.)
These fantastic events have repeatedly proven that this game is more than just steel and gunfire; it carries a certain respect for and remembrance of history, allowing us to connect with the past in a unique way.
Therefore, as we approach this monumental 80th anniversary, our expectation grows stronger: What kind of commemorative event does the developer have planned for such a pivotal historical moment?
We look forward to perhaps a vehicle with a special victory livery, a thematic marathon event, or a series of tasks revisiting the pivotal battles of that era. We hope to see the game honor, in its highest tradition, the heroes who gave their lives to end tyranny.
However, this expectation is mingled with a trace of concern.
Lately, we have observed the development team’s consistent and significant buffs to the Japanese tech tree. It is a well-established historical fact that Imperial Japan was the primary source of war in Asia during WWII and was the only major fascist power to “voluntarily” cease hostilities (a term they prefer as “cessation of war”) under the shock of atomic bombings, yet still signed the instrument of unconditional surrender aboard the USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay. This history must not be blurred, let alone glorified.
At this critical juncture—on one hand, we see a continuous rollout of major historical events for other nations (including Axis defeated powers), and on the other, the entire world prepares to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the great victory over fascism—this stark contrast forces us to question: What exactly is the game’s stance towards this core historical narrative?
Will this most important day be ignored and left to pass in silence? Or will it be met with an event worthy of its significance, sending a clear message to all players: We remember history, we cherish peace, and we honor the victory?
We are not making unreasonable demands. We merely hope that as the game draws inspiration and profit from history, it will also shoulder a commensurate degree of historical responsibility. We have seen how you pay tribute to history; now, we want to see how you pay tribute to THIS victory—the most important one.
