[The 80th Anniversary of the Victory over Fascism is Approaching. Will We See an In-Game Commemoration It Deserves?]

Greetings, Commanders.

A momentous day in human history is fast approaching—the 80th Anniversary of the Victory in World War II, the war against fascism. This victory, sacrificed for by peace-loving people across the world, saved humanity from the abyss of fascism and militarism.

In this game, we have witnessed history and shaped it ourselves. Together, we have:

· Celebrated the “250th Anniversary of the U.S. Army.”
· Obtained the historically significant German MP40 submachine gun in the Winter Event.
· Participated in the grand marathon for the “81st Anniversary of D-Day” and earned the German Sturmgeschütz II.
· Grinded through the large marathon for the American XA-38 Grizzly on May 7th.
· Completed the small event named “Soviet Prototype Tank Day,” which, to our complex and indescribable disappointment, did not even feature the T-34 prototype. (The contrast is striking, to say the least.)

These fantastic events have repeatedly proven that this game is more than just steel and gunfire; it carries a certain respect for and remembrance of history, allowing us to connect with the past in a unique way.

Therefore, as we approach this monumental 80th anniversary, our expectation grows stronger: What kind of commemorative event does the developer have planned for such a pivotal historical moment?

We look forward to perhaps a vehicle with a special victory livery, a thematic marathon event, or a series of tasks revisiting the pivotal battles of that era. We hope to see the game honor, in its highest tradition, the heroes who gave their lives to end tyranny.

However, this expectation is mingled with a trace of concern.

Lately, we have observed the development team’s consistent and significant buffs to the Japanese tech tree. It is a well-established historical fact that Imperial Japan was the primary source of war in Asia during WWII and was the only major fascist power to “voluntarily” cease hostilities (a term they prefer as “cessation of war”) under the shock of atomic bombings, yet still signed the instrument of unconditional surrender aboard the USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay. This history must not be blurred, let alone glorified.

At this critical juncture—on one hand, we see a continuous rollout of major historical events for other nations (including Axis defeated powers), and on the other, the entire world prepares to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the great victory over fascism—this stark contrast forces us to question: What exactly is the game’s stance towards this core historical narrative?

Will this most important day be ignored and left to pass in silence? Or will it be met with an event worthy of its significance, sending a clear message to all players: We remember history, we cherish peace, and we honor the victory?

We are not making unreasonable demands. We merely hope that as the game draws inspiration and profit from history, it will also shoulder a commensurate degree of historical responsibility. We have seen how you pay tribute to history; now, we want to see how you pay tribute to THIS victory—the most important one.

I doubt it with how the previous major events have been. But we can hope

My definition of the major events in this place is basically anything that can be brought out to give us a little bit of insight. For instance, at least giving you some firearms to play with, some vehicles, etc. These are the important things. It’s better than having nothing there just lying around and being useless.

Current event ends on September 5th. At best we will get a small event. I’m not even sure we got any event related to VJ day in the past.

That was really disappointing. In my opinion, this festival in the past was far more exciting than all the others combined, because it was about justice prevailing over evil. However, in today’s world where war games are increasingly commercialized, such honor and achievements have been overlooked. How I wish I could have a top-of-the-line Soviet T-44-85 tank!

According to your logic, players for the Axis factions in a computer game should receive fewer reasons for rewards for events just because the real prototypes of these factions were responsible for some crimes? You understand that this is an anti-consumer practice? The game is aimed at entertaining players and making money for developers, and not at “historical messages” and “punishing the guilty”.

The best option for any event is to hand out some rewards to each of the game factions. Do not equate the game with reality, even representing players/bots for Japan as criminals, they will not stop being just players/bots.

(The message was written with the help of a translator, there may be some shortcomings)

I understand your point, but there seems to be a misunderstanding regarding my position. I am not advocating for players of Axis factions in the game to receive fewer event rewards due to the historical actions of their real-world counterparts. My intention was never to promote in-game punishment based on history.

Rather, I simply emphasized the importance of acknowledging historical facts within the game’s context. For instance, as longtime players may recall, earlier versions of the game included certain controversial references — such as the swastika flag on the premium Panzer IV E, SS insignias on the Panther squad in the Berlin map, and even the inclusion of soldiers with documented war crime records in the Japanese faction. Over time, the developers have made efforts to tone down or remove such elements, which shows a conscious effort to maintain a responsible approach.

A game should indeed prioritize entertainment, but it should also operate within certain boundaries. This isn’t about imposing “political correctness” or deliberately creating gameplay imbalances to make a historical statement. My observation about Japan’s surrender was meant as a historical footnote — something to think about, not a demand for mechanic changes. Can you imagine the reaction if German players claimed they “stopped the war for peace” instead of acknowledging defeat? It’s a rhetorical point about the importance of framing.

My core argument is simply that future updates should avoid introducing overtly controversial units — those tied directly to highly sensitive historical events — to prevent inadvertently encouraging ahistorical or revisionist narratives. This isn’t about punishing players; it’s about ensuring the game remains respectful and doesn’t become a platform for harmful ideologies.

At the same time, I also notice some inconsistencies — for example, the Soviet faction, which historically carried enormous weight in defeating fascism, still suffers from underwhelming in-game logistics and representation. This isn’t about victimizing Axis players; it’s about expecting the developers to refine the game in a balanced, thoughtful manner for everyone.

Boy, there’s too much pathos. You must have confused the forum, it’s not Warhammer 40.0000, but Enlisted.

I’ll start with the main thing, the game is of course about the Second World War, but not about praising the USA, the USSR and others - it’s an arcade shooter where there is a bit of inaccuracy- and everything else is just a game.

And plunged the world into the abyss of globalism and… again global conflicts, where now everyone is yelling that the enemy is a “fascist”- lol. (And after the World War, "the good victors (hello USA) staged a series of bloody wars. Oh, this example of “peace-loving nations”)) Don’t you think you’re walking a fine line between gaming and politics, buddy?

Um… no? It was like shooting bots, and it remains so. And very stupid bots that just stand there and watch them get killed. Regarding the “story”, where is it? The uniform of the Wehrmacht is in terrible condition, there are a lot of prototypes that are fighting with weapons that were actually used. The technique is fighting where it could not exist at all. This is a “respectful respect for history” - yes, it’s a joke)

Is the Wehrmacht uniform in good condition? Remove the penalty - 20% experience when exiting the battle? Smart bots? New maps? Modes?

I understand you’re angry that the Japanese have improved and now the “honor and courage” and pathos have disappeared? But I understand that you want to kick a weak enemy and shout “VICTORY is 80 years old, VICTORY” - and the Japanese give you a punch in the face. Heh. If you haven’t thought about it, I’ll say that we have a game about balance, and the “fun event” (and the documents) showed that the Japanese are not such strong enemies to theoretically fight against the USSR. And that’s why they got the buff, which is logical- you need to fight someone, right?

Keep a camouflage event, some kind of plane and a sticker squad. That’s it. Or are you waiting for something else?

The game is out of politics, buddy, I’m opening pandora’s box right now, but… no one will make an “accurate story” because it will infuriate everyone. It’s probably especially fun for the Germans and Japanese, who were also killed- and 80 years later they should fall into ecstasy from killing their relatives and friends, allowing the country to be branded “evil” (when before the Second World War, the “victors” killed and acted in no way good, hello Britain in China and the actions of the United States against the Indians, and the Vietnamese). That’s why the game is out of politics, so as not to infuriate everyone. All coincidences are random, and people are made up.

This is an arcade shooter, not a history book. What were you smoking, kid?

Well, okay. You’re right. The main reason I wrote this post is actually to see if we can hold another commemorative event on this date, a marathon event. I’m looking forward to the following text. Now, I’m rewatching my energy in the game and in reality, I really seem to be quite a clown. I’m starting to regret it. Can this post be deleted? I think I should delete this one and re-edit a more concise one. Delete everything except for the part that wants to focus on this 80th anniversary and have an event or a marathon. At most, keep one commemoration.

OK, ah, I have to admit it. But the things I wrote, when I look back at them after some time and re-examine them, even I myself think they might have become a little too “Shakespearean”.

oh yeah man good idea

Yes, everything is fine, I respect the point of view, but this:

It’s debatable to me. Let me explain that if you want a story, kick the Nazis in the teeth - they must be Nazis. History, whatever it was, has happened, so censorship of the form is a strange thing for me. We don’t have much to do with history, and all censorship leads only to evil. People come to play and have fun in the setting of the Second World War, everyone understands that they are playing for soldiers who fought in one of the bloodiest conflicts in the history of mankind. And when people censor the form and remove the “controversial points”, they unknowingly remove the accuracy of the story.

Here’s an example, old Germans are new.

But as in other games:

And what did censorship do? Nothing. If there is no precision in some, there is no need for others. Instead of a beautiful uniform for the USSR and the USA, we got the same “potato sacks” - so why do we need an exact uniform if the enemy doesn’t look like a censored soldier at all?

I hope that there will be a respectful attitude towards history, but for everyone. Those who want to play for the Germans will have to play in real equipment, with a minimum of censorship, and those who play for soldiers of the Red Army, the United States, will receive large sets of clothes so that they look like people who fought 80 years ago. And everyone will be happy.

This already happened on May 9th. The event was very mediocre and the rewards were ridiculous.
