the 7.92 guns on axis plane are useless now can sit a plane length behind and empty full mag 1000 round don’t even smoke
there is a reason why everyone moved away from rifle rounds and switched to HMGs and cannon rounds during the war
So are the Soviet ones in for example the LVL 1 fighter in Moscow
Actually I’m 100% it’s just axis planes that are hampered. In Normandy the 12.7mm (.50 cal) does great work, but the 109 13mm does absolutely nothing despite being the exact same as .50 cal
The difference is that 50 BMG is actually powerful enough to deal serious damage to a plane, the same goes for 20mm Canons, but 7.62x54R or any rifle regular full power rifle cartridge, simple doesn’t have the power to heavy damage a plane a few hits.
With that said, they should definitely buff the damage of MGs to planes, but I still don’t expect wonders out of it
Small correction, .50 BMG is a tad bit more powerful than the German 13 mm.
Ok I lied, .50 BMG is quite a bit more powerful than 13×64mm B.
I feel your frustration OP, but I don’t think RCMG rounds in planes need buffed. They suck regardless of faction, and that is fine, as pointed out it is why weapons quickly progressed to cannons and HMG.
However what would help regardless of weapon is being able to set convergence and actually get all of your guns landing hits. You know, the way it actually was…

Damn… This explains so much, thanks for that. I was wondering why Brits 20mm easily shredded wings like paper while German 20mm struggled a tad more… Now I know why Same reason that it seemed easier (for me) using the Fock’s 20mm, even though it never carries much rounds, compared to the bf109 ones…
I’ll pay more attention to this now. Will probably help me learn to fly better (dogfight) too. I feel I’m finally getting the hang of it (after months )
didnt the soviets and germans use incendiary/explosive AP tracer rounds or something to fight light vehicles and aircraft?
Yeah, German aircraft ammo was historically underpowered, due to the fact that they liked larger bullets, but didn’t really like to give them enough powder to work well. It also explains why their guns only really work well when you are at point blank while other guns are a bit more lenient when it comes to range.
