That old game trick: holding a MG as main weapon slows you down, but if you switch to knife you can still run as fast as normally

The main thing I like about this game is the realism. But I noticed that one very old and comically-unrealistic trick from video games still applies to Enlisted:

If you hold a Machine Gun or Anti-Tank weapon (such as the PTRD), your movement is slowed down. But if you just carry them and hold a knife instead, you can run as fast as normal.

I hope I don’t need to point out how this is an issue. My suggestion is: add movement limitation based on the weight of the stuff you’re carrying. If you’re carrying a 20 pound Machine Gun on your back, your movement should be slowed even if you’re holding a knife. Please add this to improve even more the realism feeling of the game.

We have weight affecting movement, it decreases your stamina.

oh, sorry for not noticing. I think that suffices - holding a machine gun in firing position should slow you down but carrying not so much, maybe lower your stamina. That seems sufficient. Apologies for making this topic.

Unless they fixed it, I tested it in CBT and it’s not the case.

What I did was take a solder with light gear and a knife and see how far I could sprint until I ran out of stamina.

Then I did the same with a weighed down soldier holding a knife.
They went the same distance.

I tested it in OBT and it works.

Nope Knife works. Use it all the time on my bomber class. who’s weapon slow’s ya down. Knife out and no problem.

But it makes physical sense:
Carrying the extra weight on your back shouldn’t drain your stamina nearly as quickly as swinging the heavy weapon left and right in your hands while running. The extra mass will mainly make it harder for you to slow down and accelerate. Also there should be a higher stamina penalty for jumping.

Spoken like someone who’s never run with a weapon before.

You’re much better off keeping it in your hands.
