Te-Tar submachine gun
This gun’s unusual name “Te-Tar” was an abbreviation of the designer’s name, Teofil Tarnowski, who was a Polish expatriate working in Britain during World War II. It was a blowback-operated 9mm submachine gun of a compact design. The bolt rode on a single guide rod with a wide diameter return spring and was cocked by a cylindrical sleeve that enveloped the upper receiver, similar in fashion to the Italian O.V.P. and FNA-B X5 submachine guns. The magazine catch on the Te-Tar SMG was located inside of the trigger guard, which was unusually long, perhaps to facilitate for thick gloves.
The Te-Tar submachine gun was developed alongside a .32-caliber pistol which was also known as the Te-Tar. Neither were successful and only very small experimental quantities were made.
