Cheaper, much easier to produce/transport/carry/load, much more reliable. There are multiple reasons why not only this type but mostly all sorts of drum magazines were phased out sooner or later (not mentioning Mg drums, which are basically belt boxes).
Also long after ww2.
Irony here is that there is literally 2 (two) drums in your prove video.
Just like said, each ppsh had 1-3 drums that fit exact gun.
Yea, by making stick mags?
What is the difference between a box magazine and a drum magazine? there is a whole table full of magazines and they all fit. Perhaps the problem is exaggerated? Magazines might not fit weapons produced at different factories, the key word is “might”. It is obvious that each PPSh did not have unique magazines suitable only for it, obviously for normal people.
It’s good that there are no more questions about the reliability of the weapon.
this
and this
one is technically possible to do home with basic powertools and one requires machinery.
Il leave you figure out which one is which.
If you define yourself as a clown, then fine. I don’t judge. It’s your choice and I’m ready to support it.
but still answer the question, what is the difference between a box magazine and a drum magazine in the PPSh? Specifically in the part that is inserted into the weapon?
Let me answer for you. there is no difference. The way the magazine is attached is the same.
so where can I see what you were talking about?
Just like said, each ppsh had 1-3 drums that fit exact gun.
STG suffers? Now I’ve heard it all.
Than change its RPM to historically accurate 600 and gave it more reasonable recoil.
So does fedorov avtomat.
This is partially false the Stg 44 was only intended to replace the SMGs in service at the time it may have been call a “Storm rifle” but the Germans considered it an SMG.
The same can be said about the Avtomat Kalashnikov. In the USSR, these same words could be used to refer to submachine guns and even self-loading rifles. The word “Avtomat” came to mean an assault rifle later.
But in the USSR many soldiers were already armed with automatic weapons at the end of the war, unlike the Germans. Stg 44 was used more often as a light machine gun.
Basically, Hitler thought so because he was told that it was a submachine gun lol.
The correct translation is “assault” rifle, not “storm rifle”. This term was exclusively invented as a strong name for this new weapon category, which was developed as standard weapon to replace K98k as well as mps. The Term “Maschinenpistole” was used until the “Sturmgewehr” came up.
The MP43 / Stg44 was developed for it’s later usage as main armament for the Grenadier - no lMG-like usage or MP40-only replacement at all.
After the war East Germany called the Akm as a Maschinenpistole (“MPi”) and used it as assault rifle as intended.
They just wanted to avoid the term “Sturmgewehr” because of being a creation of Hitler himself.
No but compared to Federovs and the new Hyde i would like at least more damage for being a low rof rifle
Tecnically like federov which have 12.0
I concur. Assault rifles should replace bolt action rifles, battle rifles, and SMGs in the tech tree as they were intended IRL. FG-42s shouldnt even be in the TT, reserved for Event items or Premium Squads due to their low production numbers and specific use with paratroopers. When the FG-42 was introduced in Enlisted, we didnt have Paratroopers yet, but now we do.
I also think ARs should be able to be equipped by not only Assaulters, but Riflemen as well.
G34 Kurz (currently classified as Semi Auto Rifle), M2 Carbine (currently classifed as Semi Auto Rifle), M2A1 Carbine (currently classified as an SMG) should be reclassifed as Assault Rifles. The Fedorov Avtomat (currently classified as an Assault Rifle) should be reclassified as a Semi Auto Rifle*.
*Many Semi Auto Rifles should have a new classification, “Battle Rifle”, which includes rifles with semi and/or automatic modes of fire, but utilize full sized rifle rounds. like the AVT-40, AVS 36, SVT-40 and so on.
I do NOT concur with nerfing anything to match BRs. A 7.92mm round from a FG-42 should do similar damage and pen as the same round from a boltie.
Concur
