Sten mk.V

Hello bajtársak and fellow forumdweller,

The Sten´s development did not stop with the success of the mk.II, the mk.V was upgraded with more comfortable wooden stock and wooden grip to help control recoil, bayonet mount added and the sight was replaced with that of a SMLE sight.

Stens could also accept Lanchester magazines, with a decent 50 round mag the mk.V could be a great weapon for Britain on BR3 or BR4 depending on how strong devs make the weapon.

The mk.V has a fire rate of 600 rpm, similar to the Lanchester so if the Sten mk.V was to be BR3, it would make the event Lanchester slightly less unique.

However should mk.V get very low recoil, good dispersion and fast reload then it would be very unique weapon choice for BR4 Western Allies since the faction only has Thompson SMGs on BR4 at the moment. (The most similar SMG currently in game would be the Japanese Type 2 SMG which would have the exact same magazine capacity as well as fire rate).

The Allies need more smg options then just Thompsons. Another Sten would be a nice addition.

Patchetts are also needed.

By the way, Patchetts could be loaded with Lanchester magazines. And in theory, 50-mag magazines could be used. If a regular Patchett gets the BR3, then a Patchett with a 50-mag is a good option for the BR4.

Br III British SMG would be nice, for BR IV I think that Sterling submachine gun would do

I also read somewhere that there were Thompsons for 9mm. It would be a good option to replace the MP-40 for the allies.

Sterling is a weapon that only came into use after the end of the war. Unlike its small-scale prototype, which saw limited use in combat. Actually, Patchett, which I posted in this thread above.

I thought that both names describe one and the same gun, good to know

Sten Mk5 with bayonet + 6th Airborne Division (paratrooper unit) - Suggestions - Enlisted

The Sten Mark V could work as a BR2 weapon, but even with the Lanchester magazine BR4 would be way too high.

Yes, there’s no way you can get a Mk V be a BR IV worthy weapon without giving it an insane rate of fire and the damage of a rifle. And if that is done, have you really added a STEN?

No, I think it should really just be a late-war equivelant to the Lanchester for the guy making the average British line up, indeed even with a 50-round Lanchester mag it could net itself as a funny event BR III event gun, but not BR IV. The Patchett SMG would be my BR III tech tree gun of choice, and then you can add a event Patchett with 50-round Lanchester mag for BR IV.

Take this from a Commonwealth @Valkay, I do appreciate the spotlight for my favourite faction, but if I want a BR IV or above SMG I can rely on US lend-lease Thompsons, and that is enough for me, it’s Commonwealth enough. I want weapons placed in intelligent places, a 32-round upgraded scrapgun should not be BR IV, it’s bairly BR III worthy and I really think that BR III slot should be reserved for the Patchett.

There is a layer of big .45 acp haters in the community. I think they will be very happy with the 9mm SMG on BR3 in the tech tree. Also, the ability to arm yourself with this will please fans of purely British setups.
