Precisely, it baffles me the preception people have of the NKVD, winning the war does not make you the good guys. Mass murder is mass murder, it’s not like the NKVD was above the targeting of ethnic groups either (as if the “reason” for mass murder somehow makes them less horrible). Poles, Chechens, Crimean Tatars and Volga Germans were all specificly targeted in one way or another, the treatment of Japanese-Americans was positively soft-handed compared to what the Soviets were doing.
“No, don’t take away my neighbor, killing him for being Jewish is wrong!”
“Oh no, we’re not executing him for being Jewsish, we’re executing him for being a professor.”
Is the correct response really “Oh well that’s alright then”?
Just to be clear, I’m not arguing for the removal of the NKVD from the game. Just pointing out the hypocracy of some people.

I agree, but the crimes of the Japanese and Germans were far more horrific than anything the Soviets and the Americans and UK did.

Perhaps? Maybe? It’s not a discussion I like having, murder is murder, Japan happened to be exceedingly cruel about it sure, but Germany, USSR and Japan all engaged in brutal mass killings, the only thing that really seperates them are their motivations behind them.
And now I’m once again thinking of Japanese war-crimes and my day is ruined… I haven’t even had lunch yet, at least I should be greatful I get to have lunch…

My ancestors were also victims of such crimes. During World War II, the British caused a great famine in Iran, it is estimated that half of the Iranian population died of starvation. The British also did something similar during World War I, the situation was even worse than the famine of World War II, hunger and plague were everywhere and some people in some cities were even forced to eat the dead (which caused the spread of diseases even more).
Although I personally am not someone who holds a grudge against a nation for the actions of governments, but these crimes should never be forgotten.
You know, the Soviet Union disintegrated, so it lost all support in public opinion. Even today, there are still countries that are committing crimes against humanity, and it’s very difficult for us to publicly criticize them. Justice is a rare thing in the world.

We even have French SS volunteers in the game, I just find it strange why they are German, even the game itself has hinted that they were French.

There was no French in game when the squad was added.
Tbh I don’t really think dev had the intention to add French squad into the game at that time.
They add it most likely because it was just another unit participated in battle of Berlin.

tbf you wanted to add Unit 731, even I think thats a step too far, especially since it wasnt really a combat unit, lord knows those monsters could only commit atrocities on the unarmed and defenceless.
Those gas masks were used by many other Japanese units.
Its also the fact if we exclude war crime committing units from the game though, The Japanese faction would have to be deleted.

I think it would be helpful to be more precise . In the case of Enlisted, we are talking about “Waffen-SS” units being front troops.
There is even a Waffen-SS division named “Totenkopf” (death’s head), but there is a difference the Waffen-SS and the SS-Totenkopfverband (death’s head brigade), which are the guard units for concentration camps etc.

Not only some lord knows, but so do the Americans shortly after the war, when they pleased the leasder of Unit 731 not as a war criminal buit as a special guest, giving lessons about the unit’s human experiments to an highly interested american audience.

In contrast, the USSR was more of a righteous division. The United States is in the same category as Japan and Germany.

Yes, they only had cases in Germany at the end of the war, which were nothing compared to the crimes committed by the Germans on Soviet soil. The Japanese had terrible war crimes (we could say they were the most criminal), the Americans also committed many war crimes, especially against Japanese civilians. It’s funny how people always mention the Soviet war crimes in Berlin, but the millions of Japanese civilians killed by American bombings are forgotten.
USSR a righteous division? Hell no, not even in relation to death’s head or 731.
The rise of the bolshevikkilled more people than most wars in human history - mostly their own people. But i’ll stop right here, this is a game forum.
