Hello again,
What I will suggest today is a form of balance at what squads can be taken into battle.
This is with the foresight that, at one point or another, it will be possible for a player to bring into battle multiple top tier squads that will be paired up with players with much less advancement.
This system is already present in Conqueror’s Blade, where you have a ‘‘Leadership’’ cap of around 700 (to build a lineup), with units costing from 30 to 320 leadership points when being included in your lineups.
Units have a 1 to 5 star rating, where for example, a 3,5 star unit can cost around 180 leadership, leaving you with about 520 to spend on other troops while making your battle lineup.
This I think would be the best way to make a cap on the total amount of squads.
You could make it so that the starter rifle squad has a very low cost of 10 points (so it can be always spawned), and things like tanks cost around 200 points.
As the battle progresses, you slowly gain points every minute so you can respawn lost squads.
Tell me your thoughts!
I really like this idea and hope it gains traction. You shouldn’t be able to just bring all top tier squads.
Plus it would even the playing field between new players and end game players by a lot!
This sounds pretty much the same as War Thunders SP respawn system.
We already have a cap, the respawn count. You can only take so many squads into battle, and when they die, it takes time for them to come back so they respawn.
What exactly does this system include that we don’t already have?
You didn’t understood what he’s talking about, he doesn’t talk about spawns in game he talk about max of what you can bring into the game.
Edit: never mind my bad I didn’t understood it XD
i was about to say xd…
With the current squad system, you have to bring 3 infantry squads and 1 vehicle. It doesn’t matter which one you bring, be it 3 premium machinegun squads and the last tank unlocked, or 3 normal squads and a panzer 2.
With the proposed system, you will get rewarded by bringing other things than the top-of-the line squads and vehicles. Example:
- 5 normal squads with different ‘‘power levels’’, measured by how strong the squad is (and yes, a 7 man MP 41 and MP 40 squad is stronger than a rifle squad), and a Panzer 3 E.
- 2 Top tier MG squads and a rifle squad and a Panzer 4 E.
- 3 starter squads and a Panzer 4 F1.
Every squad would have a different cost that adds up until the leadership cap is reached.
Ah fair, my bad then.
Still though, why would this be a good thing? Especially with the premium account that gives +1 infantry and vehicle, a system like this would force me to use one good squad, maybe two, and the rest be garbage. Why?
And long-term, when all my squads are powerful, why should I be forced to use trash? I spent time, and potentially money on upgrading my squads. Why should I be blocked from using all of them?
Which still should be deleted.
Especially for the reason that you will have 3 top tier MG squads and a King Tiger while someone will have to fight you with trash.
I don’t like this system.
I’ll let you remember that there are no “5 stars squads” or “3 stars squads” you can put 5 stars soldier with 1 star soldiers in the same Squad and go on.
I also don’t like limiting the use of stuff people grinded in battle. Why I grinded all the way up to the “XXX” if I can only use it once a battle and if I chose to use it I can’t use anything else.
That’s not my problem.
I’ve played longer, or had more money to spend due to my job, or both. Why should I be punished for playing longer? What’s the incentive for me to upgrade my squads if I can at best use two good squads and the rest are total trash?
If I spend say, 4 months grinding for something, only to be told “oh well you can’t use this cause it’d be too strong”, why would I play the game further? Why would I further support the game financially? I’ve essentially achieved everything I need, what do I have to gain from further financial support?
At the end of the day they need to make money out of this game. This system would go against it heavily.
Instead of punishing you for playing better squads, the game should just make it so that certain items aren’t objectively stronger. Remove bullshit perks, weapon upgrades, etc, problem solved.
We do not need any bandaid solutions like this one.
You can still use your upgraded squads, this is a form of game balance. Which is in fact very necessary and lacking at the moment.
If the game dies because of no balance, all the money and time you invested are gone. They won’t reimburse it in the way you spent it.
You think this can’t happen? it does. It happened to a game called Total War Arena which followed the exact same monetization system as this game. Balance went out of the window with premium squads becoming the rule and the exception. It’s because of balance that you don’t see an Abrams paired up with panzer III’s in War Thunder unless you make it so to have a laugh.
This right here is balance. Every player goes by it. Every player can bring units they like and spent time upgrading but adhering to the same balance as others.
This game has survived and prospered for almost 3 years while only selling COSMETICS.
This would be good, but it creates a new problem.
Progression currently, has a huge part tied to it as perks and upgrading weapons. If this is removed, what’s the point of upgrading weapons or perks? Minimal rewards would be pretty meaningless.
Here’s an example to better illustrate what I’m trying to say: If you give me 2% less shot dispersion on my SMG, that’s meaningless, and since we can even buy weapons, why would I buy that? However, if you give me say… 15% less shot dispersion, now we’re talking differently.
Or +5% more damage, pretty meaningless, but when we’re talking about 15% or 20%, or 100% more ammo as a perk for instance…suddenly I may be interested to spend some money.
Enlisted still is an online game at the end, and they do need a way to make income.
Why upgrade weapons or perks? Isn’t unlocking new weapons and getting to use those enough?
I don’t see weapon upgrades as “gaining” 15%. You “lose” that 15% until you get it to the intended amount with the upgrade. Just look at the historical values for weapons and the values ingame. Upgraded guns are at historical values, non-upgraded weapons are worse.
And about income:
Premium squads are the main method of monetizing the game right now, and offer way more worth for your money than buying normal gun upgrades ever would.
Reminder that most of the rifles are honestly sidegrades and completely up to personal preference. So tcat’s suggestion for that kind of shit has a lot of merit.
Most of those premium squads will be thrown out the window when OBT hits. After that, for a while, upgrading your weapons for normal squads would be an alright investment.
And no, it isn’t. You barely unlock new weapons every now and then. There’s really not that much to unlock. If anything it’s pretty depressing how few weapons we have.
Not all, and they will obviously get replaced. We can’t lose the option to buy a premium squad for Normandy now can we
Because they locked more than half of the weapons we will end up seeing per campaign to force us to test a select few. Just for Moscow, we are missing AT LEAST the Fedorov Automat, MG34, DP-27, DT-29, GrB39, PTRS and PPSh.
For Normandy, we got stuff like BAR, Thompson, etc etc as well.
All of those guns are at least expected to come in full release, but most likely will be available during OBT as well.
And the new ones will come right after it. They won’t leave masses of players in OBT without possibilities to buy those P2W squads
