Except you are forgetting that artillery fire doesn’t hurt teammates. Thats where it differs. Players don’t hold back and wait for the artillery to drop. They push in and can’t be contested because of artillery fire.
Trust me, I ask for it all the time, but a number of people begin complaining every time.
I use the shovel quite often. It has a few uses. That said, that helps none whatsoever when trying to cover a window, are working on solid ground of any kind, or trying to work with emplaced weapons.
This is a very happenstance situation. If there is any part of you in the explosion radius, such as a foot, top of your head, hand, etc, despite being crouched is just barely exposed, it will kill.
(I primarily use trenches out the front of the objective to hold wire, it generally sits low enough that it is reliably protected.)
Artillery is a hard subject. I am willing to say teamkilling should be added as long as there is a way to punish trolls, while also not punishing someone who is just firing on the point for an attack.
But that’s a whole loophole. Especially since preventing arty tk’s would require communication which is very rare and it’s hard to distinguish intentional and accidental teamkills automatically.
You’d need a vote system which would never work and blah blah blah.
At this point though. I just disregard artillery. If it doesn’t kill me, the tank, plane, or random infantry squad equipped with smg’s will.

Actually I support sandbags being more durable against explosives.
So this argument is completelly made up.
Just because some of the players decide to play in groups, doesn’t mean we should ballance things around that.
If a mechanic is suitable for solo player, it’s probably suitable for groups. But not the other way.
