After the merge update, the “New Era” major update and some other fixes I still can’t believe why you guys haven’t fixed your AI’s pathfinding. It’s absolutely NOT acceptable to walk on a huge street trying to flank or using some cover and having your WHOLE squad slaughtered by some other player because they decided to walk without using cover or using a different route you have used (without covering or protection).
Also, when you command the squad to hold position, some units of the squad will start roaming around that specific point, thus, being killed in a stupid way.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy there are some good changes, but before adding more and more and more content that continues to break the game, fix the major issues, it’s important to see all this fixed before seeing new stuff.
I wouldn’t be complaining if the game would be promoted without bots in your squad, but given the fact that the very same bots are a huge part (and an important one) in-game, they should be fixed and/or reworked.
I really feel, that they have just put smart AI in Premium squads, and the free squads, they gave up on, as a incentive to purchase prem.
I have a couple of prem, and i have no issues with the AI, they even fire back at enemy’s, but sadly, with free squads , its what you describe above.
Really? My premium squad is still idiots.
Yes, i honestly i feel my prem do, and i notice it when playing setting up rally’s, taking points, etc,
I wish it’d be true, but sadly they’re the same as f2p bots. I mean, they shoot back and track enemies (which is great to ambush or wait for player while hiding), but their pathfinding skills suck. I’m talking from knowledge, 'cause…

I am not just a stacking slots with Prem, player,
i run 2x prem squads, so i am also using 3-5x free in each battle, i notice, a diff,
And do you honestly think, it is something Gaijin wouldn’t/couldn’t possibly do?
I wish that bots performance would differ on what role they present, eg. assaulter bots do much better in cqc than any other bot class, rifleman bots do much better at range than assaulters etc. the rock paper scissors kind of thing.
Agree, not making übersoldaten, just a bit better in the different types of fighting you can be involved in. 'Cause obviously you’re not going to go and storm a point with riflemen and/or radio guys.
yes, basically assaulter bots would have greater chance to make a hit, unless they face another assaulter or a player. (in cqc)
why not? I do it all the time xp
I tend to do it when it’s needed, otherwise i provide support with my nade launchers and try to kill as many soldiers coming my way, but finding 10 guys with automatic guns against my boltie… Ooof.
Good idea. Or rather, if you think about it, that level of functionality should be a given.
I’m so used to stupid BOTs that I never thought of it, so much so that I was delighted when they were just able to climb the ladder.
yes, and it makes even more sense if you think about it, assaulter bots has fast rpm weapons but they are not shooting in full auto, basically now if you’re seeing a soldier shooting full auto it’s 100% a player.
you wouldn’t even need to program their behaviour too much just make them shoot their damn weapons!
it could be programed in a way that the more bullets a gun has the less accurate the shot is,
then:
high capacity ammo = less accurate
bolt actions = accurate
this would simulate soldier being either careful with his slow rpm weapon or just panic shooting in close quarters with high rpm weapon.
it’s literally that simple…
When I play Call of Duty, Ghost Recon or Battlefield, the bots do that much as a matter of course.
Why is the Enlisted bot as stupid as it is?
Is it really that difficult to program a bot? It is even puzzling…
I hope the bot gets the degree of competence that your idea can be implemented.
I say this, from when i joined game, till now, how do they get worse, than what it was Originally, when i joined.
Because all whined that they being sniped by bots from 100m, and the nerfs just kept coming, bots where awesome once!
Games also went for like 20mins-upto hours, now a match is over in 6.46 min i have seen.
they just learned how to reload and climb ladder, then they will learn to tie their shoes and maybe in about 5 years…
I’ve been in this game for a year and I feel like a year ago the bot was smarter than it is now.
One day they suddenly became stupid and now the stupidity is starting to ease up a bit.
I believe that for some reason the Devs are limiting their intelligence.
Why would they do that? are they afraid of an AI uprising?
I often play custom matches alone and I feel the BOTs in custom matches are tougher than in regular matches. They may choose multiple paths to flank you, or react and shoot back more quickly than normal.
Maybe BOTs that are not led by players are more intelligent and motivated.
No it wasn’t the AI they where worried about, lol
Pretty sure, from all the reading i used to do here
They are drawn to the person whom is dealing the most damage to them, and then they hunt you hahah
Something along those lines, maybe s1 remembers?
AI may be stupid just because not everyone can handle them, I’ve been having teammates with 10-20 kills total, if ai were smarter this would drop down to 5? idk
i really think that dynamic AI difficulty is very great solution here, in dynamic AI difficulty the player that doesn’t do well in game would be less likely to be killed by AI, otherwise the good player.
maybe you played lonefighters bots? they are indeed better as far as I know
one thing I’ve noticed is that AI lethality is way higher if you face the whole enemy squad at once, I remember seeing old enlisted videos where a player would just run through the whole squads just knifing them, from what I’ve experienced it’s pretty impossible now, it seems like a single soldier has let say 20% chances to take you down, but if you face 5-6 soldiers at once it’s 5-6x 20% which is enough to kill you nearly instantly.
and you know what, I like it! bringing big squads actually pays off now and people who just put theirs AI somewhere behind on purpose now struggle more.
Completely agree.
What the devs could implement is that they follow the main player, that is, they copy the route that one as a player follows in the game. That would be a quick and (I suppose) easy solution.
That could be easily implemented, there’d be some new problems, but it’d solve the main problem.
