Preferably stop giving American stuff to the Soviets, because I enjoy each faction being unique.
War itself wasn’t unique though, it was during a time where everyone was stealing everybody else’s equipment. There may not have been large documented numbers, but that’s the way it was. There was also Lend lease which many players are entirely against. I think it best feels its role for lend lease or stolen equipment, being in more than one tree when they don’t have anything else to fill that role. That’s why the Soviets got the M1, you could argue they had the PTRS-41 but it doesn’t have good enough penetration against the later tier 2 tanks armor. Plus it was something that they used, it’s just like with the Winchester. That should be added to the American tree because they used it during the war as well.
I think the main rules should be:
- if a country developed it it’s automatically part the tree, event or premium for that nation.
- if it was Lent leased in a significant quantity it should be added.
- if it was stolen in a significant quantity it should be added.
- if there’s gaps in the BR for that type of equipment I see reason to add.
Not every piece of equipment needs to be added just enough to add some variety and balance.
Factions already have a fair amount of equipment that makes them unique, starting in tier 3/4 it really starts to show and set factions apart.
I think all shot guns need a small spread and probably a bit more damage but no shotgun atm have any means to take a bayonet

So on your point of it it was stolen in mass numbers… could I start stealing stuff from Russians? If we are going to ignore the idea of uniqueness for nations we might as well allow theft for extremely common weapons…
That’s how war was, Germany took a lot of Russia’s equipment. The same can be said of Germany to the Allies. And both Russia and the allies to Germany. If it has a gap in a nation’s tech tree, as well as a weakness for that piece of equipment I’m all for it. Japan is known for their planes, Germany is known for their tanks, Allies are also known for planes, and rifles, and Russia is known for their infantry equipment. Those are some of the aspects that make each nation unique, as well as what makes them more powerful.
Well if we could steal more stuff I’m all for it. Let’s not just let the incompetent Russians be the only kleptomaniacs.
another concept who could be added it’s as you all know from double barrel shotgun you can “choose” if shoot 1 or 2 at once, this should be also implemented
