Oh boy, S18-100 we have in game is a weird fantasy mixed version of 100 and 1000 with actual better pen than real 1000, while weighting like 1000
They were always bulky and barely usable and got quickly obsolete in early 40s once Soviets and Americans made better armored tanks.
Even with their artificial buff of it’s pen this AT rifle still sucks as mobility kill doesn’t mean end of a tank life like irl, they can still fight and repair it within few seconds.
You know why? Because it’s arcade game not a mil sim, you need to destroy a tank permanently not just disable it.
I guarantee you will not be seeing this weapon often at BR2 after the end of the current season. I may be one of the least used weapon in a game especially since Germany has many good choice for AT weaponry including Engineer AT gun.

my AT gunner doesn’t look very happy when i put S-18-100 (totally not upgraded 1000 fantasy miniaturized version) on him. He wants to go home.
Except thats only long range, and its very easy to get in close on almost all of the soviet maps, the only maps with range are the Normandy maps, which are a whole other basket of issues.
Since even at Medium range, the soviet SMG’s win. This is without considering the fact that the soviets have better rifles than the germans, I mean tbf I dont use the VG-2 on principle, its dumb to have a volks weapon in low tier, the Manlicher is very nice but is at best a match for the soviet BA’s, and new SA rifle is better than what the germans have.
This is entire point is made moot by the fact that any other faction can do the same thing. Not to mention a single low BR MG can rarely stop a whole squad. It barely has enough ammo to tap fire kill a squad, let alone in the heat of the moment.
And just to tack on there, its extremely rare to have 1 on 1 squad engagements, like you said its a team game, and an unending horde of PPS’s can only be beat if they lack skill and you have some. That is an unbalanced weapon, the Solothurn on the other hand, absolutely isnt a BR defining weapon, and wont even be close to one even at BR1.
Please ignore this mental patient, only get it, if you, like myself, love the look and history of the weapon, because it is not an effective weapon at all.

Please ignore this incorrect assessment of the S18-100. This weapon is a reliable tool to have in your arsenal at its current battle rating. You will have a strong and cool weapon to equip on your soldiers and have fun while actively using the AT rifle.
Mate tried it now in game and it couldn’t even pen t-70 frontally only turret and it killed just one dude sitting inside there, ofc someone else took the kill, hull was impenetrable. How is it reliable and would be too op at BR1??? Huh are we playing the same game or are you a Darkflow employee?
i also had a bug where i couldn’t reload it and bipod as always was ultra wonky and give me higher recoil while bipoding on windows than while prone.
Only kills were on underpowered f2p players with T-26/T-60 or T-70 when it exposed it’s back. Once you encounter actual BR2 players with more armored tanks you are completely screwed.
With BR3 uptier it’s a death sentence. It would feel better to play at BR1 as you still need to flank T-70 to kill it despite you carrying a supposed BR2 AT weapon.

nothing has been nerfed or buffed so saying the S18 is good is correct as well but thanks for helping me prove my point is correct since you need to try to correct my wording to prove me wrong somehow
youre prone on a ground shooting up to a slopped plate that is armored if you actually sat in a window it would have went through for the t60 and in the case of the t70 and t50 that also has better slopped armor would still get penetrated in the front after a few tries
German gets a new toy and all you can do is complain about its to hard to use since I need to go prone and can’t shoot through slopped armored plates. and than compares it to thew Grb 39 that has a heat grenade. its amazing like can you please stop replying because ill keep saying the same thing S18 100 can penetrate br1-2-3 tanks even if it has to be the side of the tank. no human being is dumb enough to go to the front of a tank and shoot it while in a active battle field
The Solothurn kind of sucks. And it’s not just it solely but rather all AT rifles in general. Though the S18 suffers even more so because, if the opportunity presents itself, an AT troops with an AT rifle can jump on top of a tank and shoot down on the engine block causing an engine fire with good consistency. But since the S18 is forced into prone, it’s very inconsistent in pulling this off. And since this is a hazardous option for AT gunners, isn’t it better to choose the tool where this isn’t necessary?
At range it can be fun to snipe with but you are just a nuisance. Tracking tanks and shooting out barrels is cool but wouldn’t you just rather get the kill? So overall if your intention is to snipe infantry, you are better off choosing a proper sniper. The poor iron sights, high recoil and low ammo count make it a subpar tool in this role. (Plus the zero seems to be off) And if the goal is to kill tanks, GrB-39 all day unless you just love getting assists.
So yeah it is fun, but there is a much more effective tool for low BR Germany.They really should have given this thing its scope. The effectiveness and fun factor would go way up. At least against infantry. Overall, the S18 is just a lot of bark with a very little bite.
I also find it odd too how the rounds seem to explode with HE but deal no actual splash damage.
