First simple change:
Add second animation for melee
Right of now if you use the shovel it’s always a digging animation, even when trying to melee someone, hence a second “swinging” animation that would be used when looking anywhere that isn’t diggable (indoors, obstacles, germans, etc.). as well as change the hitbox angle or make it larger since you have to be basically inside of someone to hit them from my experiences. possibly a new sound effect too?
Second: ability to deposit material or fill in holes
This one has already been suggested a few times as well but it would be a welcome change to make the shovel a lot more of a useful tool on the battlefield. One detail i have yet to see someone suggest for this feature is needing to actually gain said material to fill in the dirt, and I can think of 2 ways to fix that issue so people aren’t abusing it too hard
- Make it use the engineers build points
Using the shovel to raise terrain would act the same as say, building a sandbag wall. needing at least 1 point to do so, and only being able to place it in “diggable” ground. - Moving dirt like a real shovel
Simply put, when digging with a shovel the dirt needs to go somewhere. Every 5 to 10 scoops, you need to deposit the dirt somewhere before you’re able to dig again.
