i have been tasked to compile a document over all missing items that should be available in the customization.
for example, the missing gerat tunic for the germans because the pants are buyable.
or, like default gray uniforms that some squads comes with, but are unable to buy for the customization.
as well as the soviet NKVD uniform which cannot be bought, but comes by default for AT squad of berlin. as well as the ppd event green ameba where both the pants and the headgear are buyable but the tunic is not.
so, my question was,
would you gents love to use non winter coats over non winter maps, or should those be stricly available only for winter maps?
the question arises for two motives, currently, over winter campaigns such as stalingrad & battle of the bulge or moscow for that matter, is possible to buy non strictly winter clothing with the addition to add gloves as well as coats.
which makes sense.
so, should coats be available to also other campaigns? or not. based on players vote in the next 48h, i’ll decide where include them as missong,. or not.
( i’d say tunisia is a no, but then again, the premium squads have them. so i’m a bit… conflicted )
Berlin - yes, plenty of photos of soldiers in coats and even vatniks from Berlin operation.
Normandy - for Germans maybe, US winter gear in-game looks to hot for June.
Tunisia - probably not - yes there are photos of Germans in coats, but those possibly were issued for night guard duty, we don’t have night fighting yet.
Apologize for being slightly off topic, but should Germans in Moscow/Rzev/Stalingrag get Zeltbahn tunics as well? They were made from 1931 and were often worn on body by soldiers, I’ve heard.
Also, is there a way to learn what happened to soviet winter coats for engineers and radiomen?
They had unique collar tabs specific to their service branch,
Spoiler
But it seems at some point they were either removed or retextured to use standard red collar tabs from infantry.
however, according to enlisted, those camouflages were made prior to the war. and despite not being used, are good enough to be given to those campaigns even when in reality, soldiers didn’t actually had them.
I wouldn’t mind coats in Berlin since that is set in the Spring but not Normandy which is in the summer, I think it would look weird that some tank crew wear shirts with sleeves rolled up while others run around in coats.
Summer campaigns should have options like rolled up sleeves, short pants, no shirt under tunic, loosely buttoned uniforms ect…
The new customisation / campaign feature looks ok to me, so effectively in barracks you can pre-select what the soldiers will look like for each campaign.
That’s the theory, although not all intra campaign maps are actually the same as far as for example the degree of winter in Stalingrad - its effectively the Stalingrad from September rather than the November / December snowed in look so many of the snow smocks available in the Stalingrad customisation are out of place.
They should go through the maps and tag the uniforms to the map. Once you select an old campaign customisation scheme, only those uniforms that are available in those maps should appear - there could be some overlap for default items like pants / boots.
If they do the tagging correctly, then when a map is selected by the MM, the game should check which customisations you have made available for your soldiers and then oscilate between the generic set and those purchased for a given map automatically.
In terms of the actual uniforms, they could probably cut down on the slightly different color schemes of the same uniform and just settle on a specific uniform for a given campaign period rather than have individual uniforms per squad, which I think seemed like a good idea at some point but is actually poorly executed.
I’d rather also have complete uniform sets available to chose from, rather than like in the german line up different colour schemes for the SS uniforms that don’t really match each other (except one maybe from Berlin) There are better matching uniforms available on some of the premium veh crews so I’m not sure why those are not included in the options.
