A provisional name for what appears to be an experimental self-loading Arisaka (the rifle’s name is currently and will probably remain unknown). Essentially some sort of Arisaka with a Type 99’s magazine stuck onto the bottom, the only known image of the rifle was taken by the US Army after capturing this rifle. Why this rifle was developed remains unknown.

Yeah. It seems like so. But again nothing is known about this weapon. So the devs can take the liberty to make it a fully automatic rifle.

True. But if they are going to add Japan to BR V they will definitely need a select fire weapon along the lines of M2 carbine.

This is not semi or auto rifle
This is a last ditch extended mag trench bolt type 99.
Why it was designed ?
Very simple; for cqc just like why gewhr 98 trench mag was designed in ww1

What makes us think this might be self loading? We have no visual of the other side of the gun, and a translation of the website they pulled the picture from suggests it’s more like the large magazine modifications done to rifles like the 1903 and g98 during ww1

Have we considered that there’s no need/reason for japan to get tier V? There’s nothing to give them that they actually used or designed during the war that competes with end-tier smgs and assault rifles, and definitely not that compares favorably to M4 76 or Pershing.

I hope the devs secretly give it a full auto capability.
They can always tweak things up a little. Japan needs all the help that it gets. Plus we are also getting the Ho Ri Prototype which was a made up tank.

Japan’s only, solitary advantage was insularity. If it weren’t for the BOMB, the war would have dragged and cost potentially millions more lives.
Let Japan be what they were, exclude them from BR 5 just as they’re already excluded from any non-pacific maps, and call it a goddayum day.
