…
I do agree last bit don’t learn much when sheltered,
but i also feel that with way things are, and peoples, well understanding of a war game, they need time to play against them selves first, instead of facing vets, that even with BRI equipped, will still make it uncomfortable.
So i would only suggest they be sheltered, for as long as they stay BR I, equip BR II , and off to the big pond, with the BR II-III fish/sharks
Skill won’t be the issue, lack of equal firepower and equipment will be, none of these players coming from steam are new to fps. They will already be familiar but will be ill equipped. So adding skill based matchmaking would just be an attempt at sweeping the equipment issue under the rug.
As for a solution?
This was assuming they were players “new to shooters” however my solution is as follows…
Make BR-1 standalone and make all new players fight only each other in a separate BR-1 queue, new players cannot leave this queue until they have 3 fully upgraded infantry squads and all of tier 1 is researched for a specific nation.
SBMM only works in competitive games with small player pool matches not casual like Enlisted that has matches of 10vs10. Do you really want me to play every match as the esport sweatfest full of cheaters? No thanks. Even right now ques take at least few minutes with SBMM i would need to wait 30min for a single match.
It also introduces dynamic damage model and hitboxes which are just unplayable.
Yeah, SBMM is definitely not good solution for Enlisted. We need to encourage good players to play unpopular factions.
Meaning, we need to get rid of win bonus/loss penalty. We need better desertion policy. And we need better queue policy.
That match was a pure cancer like some kind of clan war nothing but meta tryharding while i just wanted to lvl up my three squads and bank xp for new unlocks. Although winning was extremely satisfying we almost lost we had zero tickets when we rushed at the point. With your idea every match would look the same about the same as this one i would be too exhausted to keep playing after two back to back matches like that one.
Anyway if a player is bad how could he improve if it’s always the same with similar players that are as bad as him? Ain’t it a counter productive. I remember old server browser games where you would join and fight vs people of varying skill level some could be easy to kill and some would be extremely good players that you look up to and wanted to beat them some day so you keep on playing every day and finally beat him and become a new king of the server. With SBMM that’s impossible since it’s a communist utopia where everyone must be the same. But even still it would not be possible unless you have 100k+ players playing at same time.
PS SBMM would break friend queing together one with higher skill would ruin all fun for less skilled friend.
that sounds like current Enlisted so nothing would change for me if they’d implement SBMM
I can honestly say living at BR5 is miserable but the only good side about playing at that level for Germany Is our weapons can shoot straight and are not as silently handicapped as the low levels or broken in a particular way.
But overall everything is kind of fine except for the cancerous Americans with their rocket spam and explosive spam and Soviets with their trolley body armor and weapons which hit above their weight class when it’s supposed to be an MG and the lack of a belt fed MG for Germany where people are spamming 9 man rifle squads at you and you’re forced to reload when most of them have vitality so you don’t have enough bullets to put all of them down.
Eh? It looks like a joust between 2 forum members… I rarely read the entirety of those…
(I just woke up, let me grab my coffee)
Dude.
I want cute yellow painted pineapple grenades too!!!
They love cuddling with IJA and IJN soldiers
Don’t know what the frick you want my opinion for, but alright
It would keep the idiots safe on the low ends of MM, although it ain’t that hard to join and quit enough matches to bring yourself down in skill level. Easy enough to still bully the newbies and mediocre gamers for a couple matches before needing to try again
It would also make every match a proper challenge. No more steamrolls because both your enemies and teammates will be ideally matched together for an evenly skilled match
However
As you said, the casual part of Enlisted, a somewhat realistic arcade shooter, will die entirely. There will be no casual matches. No “lemme just do this instead of objective real fast.” No more just mindlessly wandering around slaughtering some nerds. No it will be objective objective objective objective because it HAS to be that way. Otherwise you will lose because you now need absolutely everyone to take on the equal enemy team. Instead of the 2-5 players dominating and needing to take care of each other and all the peons below doing whatever the frick they please. No more solo winning. No more epic one man vs entire team on objective. No more just screwing off to a plane the whole match. You’ll likely never have time for extra curriculars such as building MG nests and other fortifications because you’ll need to be on objective, gun out, ready to shoot
So it’s win some, lose a lot
They’re full of good nutrients, I heard.
I’m still in bed procrastinating getting up
I’m also a lot less active than I’d like to be, but at this point I’m usually playing WT or watching tv
