Rework "grey zone". Brainstorm

I mean, it would be the best possible solution. But I don’t know if it’s possible without maps rework.

Rewoking Grey zone area is not bad idea, but REMOVING it is not worth it.

Actually, these Grey zone problem’s one big reason is Jumbo. I never had Grey zone problem in other campaigns like Moscow or Berlin. There are many ways to kill Top tier tanks in grey zone if you play other campaign. You can penetrate it using Anti-Tank gun or cannons.

But Jumbo is different. It can block every shells in Enlisted.(Except Panthers in Berlin thou) To destroy jumbo, you have to shoot Its machingun Tits or just use Explosion pack. but Jumbo in Grey box is undestroyable. Can’t even flanking or Banzai charge.

Just replace Jumbo to another tank like 76mm M4 and it would be more balanced.

I believe it is, if moving spawns will be included as well in this change.

Also, if devs widen “surrounding” grey zone (thus not only grey zone around spawn), it would be much easier to flank and hunt mortarmen down, as well as giving tanks more options how to use flanking to their advantage and still offer fair killability.

if we are thinking about removing gray zone all-together, then in order to deal with spawn-campers, how about this:

when you spawn you are invulnerable, after you take your first shot/move x-meters, the timer starts (5 seconds maybe ? idk) after which you become vulnerable.

will help with finding spawn-campers, gives you enough time to find and kill them,

Agree with you, in one map you can even make spawnpoint in enemy gray area while they cant come to destroy it. About tanks in gray area… well… they make a lot of kills, but useless kills as all campers. Objective gives victory, not kills. I prefer a noob beside me in objective than many guys with 200 kills out of objecitve and just camping behind objective or enemy spawn.

I personally think the grey zone should only exist as a static border for the entire combat area. I don’t think it should shift at all for either side…the entire area should remain open during the batttle IMO.

As a follow up, I would have no problem with some kind of “invisible” or “spawn protection” system that would work a bit better than what is in place. Perhaps a soldier isn’t venerable until he engages the enemy or 30 seconds pass, whichever is sooner.

Shilling my own idea again because I think it’s the simplest solution, and effective on most maps.

No - it’s is fine because it reflects a real world situation that should exist, and isn’t actually particularly bad at all.

The only “bad” thing about it, apparently, is that it is hard to kill someone in the grey area, and somehow that annoys you for some reason.

But it is hard to kill someone in lots of situations - that is a weak argument.

It really doesn’t reflect a real-world situation when a WWII tank is able to effectively put out direct fire without anyone being able to attempt to close the gap on.

Mortars you can pretend could be at longer range, but with tanks it’s just blatantly one sitting 100m away with the accuracy of being 100m away and you aren’t allowed to touch it.

But it may end up with some players going from enemy grey zone to play area, then back to enemy grey zone to regularly kill some units that are just losing their spawn protection.

I didn’t know that in real military you get executed for moving 200m further behind the objective.
[Happy NKWD noises]
Also it doesn’t seem likely that whole unit will sit in one place and allow enemy tank to shoot them without consequences, because it is too far. I would at least send AT detatchment to destroy it, but maybe I don’t see military genious in this method :upside_down_face:
Ok, end of jokes.

It annoys me because it’s cheesy, no skill play. I can stand when the enemy is moving me down, but not if I can’t do anything about this because of game mechanics.

It doesn’t make you invulnerable - you can do something about it although certainly options are limited (eg use aircraft), and cheese is another weak argument.

I stand by my opinion - it is not bad, it is a legitmate game mechanism and utilising it when it suites you is a legitimate tactic.

I use my vehicle slot for fighter plane so no, I can’t use planes. And “buy more slots” is not a solution.
All I can do is to try to suicide charge it. But sometimes it’s simply too far in grey zone to live long enough to get to it.
So again, camping in grey zone is no brain strategy with low risk high reward.

I don’t see someone running back and forth through the open that big of a threat.

We already got similar spawn protection system

But this only work against lone spawn campers, not when attackers get ‘pushed’ back to spawn.
