Have you ever used a plane to counter it? I guess no.
But if they cover objective with mortar fire + getting frags they are useful. I feel it’s again start of the old debate that mortars are not cool because you don’t need skill to use them, meanwhile pilots and tankers getting tons of kills are always praised.

Hope not, that would be really sad for me, it’s such a special part of this game and very enjoyable play style, especially if you have a spotter friend.
I loved the pre nerf mortars with more ammo and not as inaccurate as they are now
Only thing that should have happened was the battlefield boundary should be widened by a lot so we can actually fight everywhere, then you can hunt down mortar squads with impunity
And the other thing that would help would be to make the cap points much larger and have at least 2 on each front. Then the mortars have harder time hitting everyone stacked in one tiny space.
Though having a game mod with no planes, no artillery and no mortars. Infantry Bolt Action Rifles only, no explosives of any kind, could offer a refreshing experience as another extra mode to play.
Another example: if i must chose between useless teammate mortarman and useless attacker pilot i choose mortarman haha! At least he isn’t taking plane slot for nothing.
And also bomb the enemies that are advancing towards the point making capping job easier 
I love the mortar, can get 50 to 60 kills on the one squad. It is, however, situational just like any other squad. Prolly gets a bad rep from poor use, no one else seems to have grasped the concept of a creeping barrage (or maybe I’m just cynical after serving for 25 years). If the enemy know what they are doing, they can always use a plane and bomb. (I recognise a good enemy player when they do that).

I can´t agree more… right now, it is not the mortarmen who are useless… it is players who are absolutely ignorant to possibilities mortars can give to them…
Lately even if I ask my team to give me coordinates to provide support with mortar, literally not a single soul bothers to do so…
Who is the useless one around here then huh…

Mortars are very fun to use but I do find them alittle too accurate
And then people trashtalk or even teamkill player with mortar because he is not useful enough…

Sadly, I saw both of those things happening.
Luckily, it is not frequent. What is frequent however, is the lack of cooperation. Mortar after nerfs is okayish support weapon that is situational, but can really pull its weight if team cooperates at least a bit. For that reason, I do not believe mortars deserve complete removal.

It’s all about timing.
When playing mortars, minimap is your best friend. Not merely to put a marker where to aim at, but to see the general movement of your team: when playing mortar, on offensive side, I wait till I see my team starts rushing at a certain distance of the cap zone. Only Then do I launch a salvo near the cap. It will effectively either clear out the cap of any foe or block their approach, allowing my team to get in, then I simply join in.
Works wonderfully for me, each and everytime. So removing it only because someone dislike it? Nah. They’re both fun AND useful (if used right.)

i havent used mortars, but i don’t think they should be removed. its not like they’re spammed or anything
