Are we pretending axis don’t have a hard time in berlin? Its almost always 2 axis players versus a full team of soviet players because they got much better close combat weapons. Axis get good weapons at the end of the tree and once a player reach max level and get fg42, they move over to grind another campaign. I don’t think I have ever been killed by a fg42 and I am almost max level soviet in Berlin.
This is why they struggle. Not because of weapon balance. Randomly posting 3 games of anecdotal evidence proves nothing, I can go get a screenshot of Vylient losing an Allies Berlin game after getting 400 kills.
Fewer people play axis because allies have better weapons much earlier. Axis get good weapon at the end when theyre redundant because the campaign is finished and people move on to grind other campaigns. FG42 at campaign level 12 would be great to balance Normandy and Berlin. I deserted almost 50% of games in Berlin today because I could tell a minute in that it would be a steamroll.
Not exactly. Fewer players plays Axis because it is the exact same playerbase which wants to play as Germany that needs to split between 3 or even 4 campaigns (Tunesia being a ghost town in that aspect). Meanwhile playerbases for Western Allies and Russians are not exactly the same, so they are fragmented between 2 campaigns only.
Equipment wise Germans are fine in all campaigns. They get their best toys late, but even earlier equipment is really solid. No need to move that bs of a weapon as FG-42 earlier in the progession.
You’re not wrong that americans wanna play as americans and russians as russians, but they will switch if their preferred faction is weaker because people want to win. I play all factions and campaigns and its always a struggle as axis. When I play allies I can watch youtube videos on the other screen and still win. A weird thing I have noticed is that Eastern Europe has the most balanced teams, it’s mostly Europe and North American servers that all stack the winning team.
again, because the playerbase is lower and it’s filled with bots. It has nothing to do with gear with the exception of maybe Axis Tunisia. German players are split between four campaigns, and it’s doubled by repeated unlocks across all four of those campaigns. Very few people are willing to unlock the MP40 4 times and the end result is far fewer players across the board for the Axis. It’s the reason why the “queue as any” button might as well read “play as axis”
Balancing the game around “axis have less players” is unfathomably bad design. It’s addressing a symptom instead of the disease.
Regardless, I so desperately love the fact that this thread went from feedback and discussion on rebalancing and redesigning the Normandy campaigns to “axis OP! wah!” and “allies OP, wah!” This is why people don’t use the forums, and why I bet the devs don’t take it seriously.
if you want to speak objectively then the most balanced would be tunisia, that campaign still has shit maps lol, since everyone will be running BAs for the most part, the first semi autos are comparable with each other, tanks are on par especially now that the PZ3J is added, SMGs excel at different things with axis SMGs being more suited for longer ranges than allied SMGs. LMGs are there and sometimes work. CAS has extreme bomb load for each side. the only reason why axis is struggling there is because NO ONE plays tunisia a whole bunch
