Definitely not.
American M2 carbine shouldn’t be reclassified to smg. It would ruin any uniqueness of M2A1, plus it would screw up players who bought the weapon in higher numbers for their rifleman squads.
In fact, this M1 Carbine is quite different from the M2A1 - it can’t mount a bayonet and has slower ADS speed compared to the M2A1.
Make it similar to vg 1-5. Let both assaulters and riflemen use it
My preffered solution Introduce a "Carbine" Weapon Class
Addressed both of these concerns too, all carbines would become unique and their use would be expanded, not retracted.
I know you already liked the post, Adam
M2A1 Carbine: select fire, .30
Thompson .30: select fire, .30
Hyde 44: select fire, .30
M2 Carbine: select fire, .30…… “rifle?”
You are fighting the inevitable
if you mean an assaulter class weapon for assaulters fine sucks but i have been asking for it, if you mean smg as in used by tankers, pilots, guerillas then no. assaulters can use assault rifle and smgs the m2 is an assault rifle not an smg i dont think any of those other weapons are smgs either. smgs use pistol caliber which is judged by length not width. the .30 carbine is almost twice as long as a 9mm its not an smg.
I have no clue what do you mean.
But you got right 1 out 4. Pretty poor score.
The M2 Carbine should finally be given to Assault
I agree but not to tankers, pilots,mp gunits, it’s an assault rifle not an smg
Is it really that hard to give an M2 Carbine (without a bayonet) to an Assault
No it’s that bad to make it an smg and give it to
Medics, pilots, tankers, gunits,
Technically, all of these are more or less assault rifles.
Exactly which is why the M2 should join the family
First of all, the weapon class types are designed purely for gameplay purposes, not to gimmick some irl weapon classifications that basically didn’t even exist during WW2.
Second of all, it is carbine, not assault rifle.
Otherwise they would simply name it M2 assault rifle. Which obviously wasn’t the case.
90% of weapons do have their proper classifications. It’s just a few that are wrong
The M2 Carbine is called the M2 Carbine because it was a development of the M1 Carbine. Carbine is the name.
However in practice it is basically an assault rifle in that it fires a bullet that is bigger than a pistol but smaller than a rifle.
Now ironically the first “assault rifles” like the Ribeyrolles, Mkb 35, Mkb 42, were all called carbines. This is perhaps because they had to use something to call these new fangled weapons. The term assault rifle was only born when Germany named the MP 43 the Sturmgewehr for propaganda purposes.
Assault rifles were developed as an evolution of sub machine guns. Assault rifles did not become the standard issue infantry weapon until about the 1960s
The fact that the M2A1, Thompson .30, and Hyde 44 are all Assault class weapons is proof that the M2 should finally be put where it belongs
I believe the only reason people oppose this is because they don’t want change. Things have been this way for so long. I imagine people would be mad because they’ve had the M2 Carbine in all their lineups for so long that they don’t want it to change where it belongs
