Classic gooner explanation “according to lore they’re ancient 50 thousand years old spirits”.

Probably because of the art style, all characters are hand drawn. but maybe look at more than single picture first before complaining.

A mistake from early 2000s when cute was in high demand and artists thought that if anime girls reminded us our favourite pets, we would find them cuter (not really).

Most VN, anime ect abandoned the idea later on, in Muv-Luv for example all characters created after 2004 have no animal ears.

I really appreciate you explaining to me, because this feels so weird.

I remember as a teen, attractive women were portrayed as… attractive women:

“Guilty, uhuhuh”

Faye’s attire was ofc overly skimpy. At least it fit with her character (she used her charms shamelessly on gullible men)
Even so, the character at least was an adult…

“Le sigh”…

Tbf the gimmick has been done for a fair while now, at least the early 2000’s. Even older if you look at the more forbidden tomes… And if you look at the concept in general of personifying objects, it dates back to about as old as the artform itself. I mean Nippon will do nippon things, the radiation got them going bad.

Plot

As for the plot, its a spin on the magical girl genre, ngl it actually has some cool gimmicks going for it, all the characters are named for WW2 fighter aces, Hartemann, etc, etc. They all use weapons from their respective nations, mostly all the aircraft versions at that. Plotline is alien invasion back in like the 40’s(?) which in turn kinda cancels WW2 and all the nasty shit that came with it, and then you have magical girls who can use magic powers to power what amounts to “magic power armou/flight suits”, again all modelled after WW2 aircraft, the action in it does actually play out a bit like the later gundam type action.

But yeah, if your going to watch something, watch LoGH, thats a true mans anime.

Howz darez youz compare DA ORKZ to da fething most kumpable 'umies!

They are far more like like wannabe inquisition scribes, weak piddly men who grasp to whatever power they can get.

But yeah gl with the coffee machine, they are just a bit of a pain to clean.

I liked Gundam, but I’m old enough that I watched Gundam ancestor, Robotech.

And I watched dragon ballz. And fist of the north star.

For female anime crush, that came much later in late 90s came ofc Faye (duh.) Deedlit also with a more fantastic setting (ahah who am I kidding. Pirotess. I’m not made of wood).

So yes being used to those, looking a 12yrs old in panties… I’m out of my element there… I completely fail to see the appeal…

Your not the only one, Ive never been a fan of fanservice ironically enough. Though I think another issue is bit tell of their environments, where a 16yr old and a 18yr old can be very similar looking to them, in style and in behaviour, sure its not just a modern issue when you look at it that way, I mean at least for hte last 100 years and frankly Id argue the last 1000, the young have tried to look older and the older look younger.

However being a fan of it, and recognising why its there are two separate things, the good news is that you can easily avoid it by recognising the warning signs. Its really a plague of the early 2000’s era imo, I mean I grew up watching Fairy Tail, the fan service in that was insane, but still at least it was enjoyable despite that. Like it was always a thing, but idk why then in particular it became so prevalent.

Again though, its easy to avoid that slop if you know what your looking for, again I gotta recommend LoGH, truly the GOAT of anime.

idk what Im saying ngl, I should sleep

For the ignorant, gaijin has collaborated with Strike Witches before when the series was more popular.

I think they fear women. And the only one division of them was too much for them to handle.
