It is silly that some aircraft need to take off from an aircraft carrier while some don’t on the Pacific maps. Either remove this requirement or find a way to better balance it. Planes that don’t have to take off from the carrier have an unfair advantage because they start with much more speed and altitude . It was a nice thought but it isn’t practical for this fast pace game.

I understand that. It just seems like too harsh of a disadvantage on take-off. It is hard to dogfight effectively when your starting speed is so slow It would be nice to add airfields off the map where all planes can go to repair, similar to WarThunder.
I think a “use aircraft carrier” option would be interesting. This option is similar to the APC option. You will come from the sky with this option disabled, but you will no longer be able to repair it. You will also have a cooldown at the beginning of the match like other aircraft that come from the sky.(Yes, I know that no aircraft in the Pacific Ocean have a cooldown right now, but they said it will be added in the next update.)
If aircraft carriers remain then they might as well add airfields. Make all planes start on the ground. All of them

Having a universal repair method would be a good idea. I think how they have it implemented now is too clunky and arbitrary. I think this could still be implemented and have all planes either start in the air or on the ground. I understand that historically, only certain planes were able to land/take-off from a carrier, but with the maps being the way they are, you don’t have much time to get up to speed before you are gunned down by an opposing fighter.
What’s the problem with it? Aircraft like the A6M3 B5N2 and the other ones would be significantly improved
Im all for japan having the shitty end of the stick but it’s such a gimmicky mechanic that can be kept in for the people that play for immersion because it’s a soft nerf, nothing else.
Also the pacific bombers… which are specifically for that campaign spawn at a ridiculous height making them impossible to take out in a BR3 and below game for japan.
Yeah, ability to repair your plane is straight up soft nerf.
Plus early spawn is going to be exclusive only to carrier based planes after the next major update.
So there are plenty reasons why would one prefer to play them.
All they need to do is introduce more planes so there would be at least one carrier based and air based fighter/attacker for each BR. That’s all.
No, all planes should take off from an aircraft carrier or from the ground. Don’t like it? I don’t like being under a hail of bombs and missiles either. That’s why planes should be limited.
I would be ok with that. I think either they all should start from take off or none of them should.
Pardon if i or you am mistaken but the controversy about this mechanic is that it slows down aircraft combat immensely… how many times in a normal dogfight can you make it out even? Let alone the sluggish fly back and the take off just to regain altitude for another 2 minutes.
Honestly? Yeah, that’s a nerf… because in that time you could have simply died and let someone else go full speed (hopefully without carrier spawn) to objective get their ordnance off rinse and repeat.
I see your solution but instead of waiting all this time considering they just finally added two to the tree simply make it an option to spawn in the air or on carrier but keep the repair.
And if balancing is an issue… if i can’t spawn in dauntless why can i spawn XA-38 or zero and p51.
You both bring up valid points. I would also like to add that the carrier take-off disadvantage becomes much more apparent later in the game when enemy planes are already in the sky. This means once an enemy has air superiority it makes it very difficult to regain air superiority. I have had games where I simply cannot play aircraft because taking off from the carrier was a death sentence.
I think that instead they should make it so the carriers don’t shoot at enemy planes unless a friendly plane that spawned on a carrier is active.
People running back to their carriers for protection because they’re bound to lose the dogfight while they’re in a P-47 is ridiculous, especially with how small the playing area actually is.
Quite simply, if the Pacific theatre needs to take off from the water via float planes or carriers, then ALL planes in every faction should have to take off from an airstrip thus taking the same amount of time the Carrier take offs waste. Lets make all the tank people have to load their crew and start their tank before heading to the battle front, we might as well slow them down in the process as well.
