I don’t know if they need to be removed from assaulters, but I agree that they should be available for other classes. Particularly radiomen and troopers.
I honestly feel like machine gunners with the light 20 round mags such as the BAR and Breda are just as “assaulter” capable, even having more advantages at longer ranges. A BAR or Breda can spray a room just as effectively as a Thompson or Mp43, a lot of times with even greater effect as those machine guns fire full caliber rifle rounds that typically one shot knock down the enemy. Whereas the Mp43 or thompson require 2-3 hits to knock one down. And let’s talk about range. Good luck getting a pot shot on an enemy from 150m with a thompson or Mp43, but with the aforementioned MGs, can be done from standing.
I agree with the above statement that Assaulters are overhyped as well as the limitations for semi auto guns on assault class only being dumb.
That´s a very vague statemeant you realise that? Afaik you´re running around with 9 man M2 Carbine or FG42 squads in wich case you don´t really need any Assaults but when you´re early in the campaign it´s the most useful class to push objectives.
VG 1-5 needs to not be an assaulter weapon
The real issue here is the gross perpetuity of automatic weapons in general. 95% of all troops had bolt guns or in the case of the US, garands. In a platoon of 30 people, maybe 2 would have an SMG and 2 with a machine gun, 2-3 grenadiers, 1-2 AT guys, and maybe 1 mortar team. The rest were rifleman with maybe a guy with a radio. Engineers were completely separate and not generally attached to a rifleman platoon.
We play the game as multiple squads which make up a platoon. We dont play the whole platoon at a time.
For Germany every squad leader had a MP40, but yeah I completely agree.
I personally use K98s for majority of my troops. In Berlin I have the excuse to use G43 for all the “SS” squads. Only my American troops use semi autos on all men.
About the same ext, for Tunisia I only have m1s for American squadkeads the rest have springfields
for historical accuracy every soviet soldier should be given a ppsh
What historical accuracy?
A typical US rifle squad, would be all M1 garands, one BAR and two M1 carbines, no smg.
German, one SMG, one SLR, one rifle with optics, and one MG, the rest all, k 98’s.
British, one smg, one Bren, the rest all enfields.
That’s a typical late war pattern, there were some variations for specialty squads, like if you want to talk aboutFJ, or panzer greindears, they had two MG per squad, and typically two smg’s.
Italian squads are very interesting because they actually had 18 people in them, having two of them per platoon, with two MG’s the rest rifles.
British paras late war had a 2 inch mortar in each section as well as the above mentioned allocation, and often up to 3 smg’s.
The US and British did not allocate rifles with optics at the section level, unless… British pars squads circa 44-45 did one per section (squad).
For most of the war it was also common for there to be at least one grenade discharger per section no matter what army you were in, sometimes as many as two might be present depending on the time and place and who you happen to be
For the US some units would see the M1919A4 lmg in leu of the BAR circa 44/45, specifically but not limited to US Paras, But the BAR was generally preferred, and in 45 the TOE changed to alow for this option officially.
On paper the US paras were aloted two lmg’s per squad but they were not used operationally that way, the second was intended as a spare.
O, and almost none of these guys had pistols, usually only the guy with a machine gun would have a pistol, and even the Americans would replace that with the carbine late war.
There were some units that were almost entirely equipped with this, but this was by no means common.
sarcasm laddy
Ah I was close it seems. Thank you for the detailed layout. I think the point is still valid though regarding the excessive use of auto guns.
Ya, part of the problem is in order to be competitive especially if you want to try and fight on the point in the campaigns that are more Klusterfuk central you basically need to have a smg if you want to be competitive, I mean in the sense that you’re trying to fight for the point, as opposed to trying to fight on the edges, although with a decent pistol you can be pretty good too I’ve had a lot of success just using a pistol assuming it’s one of the better ones.
Limiting the submachineguns to just assault units, and then say max three per, and radios to just radio sections I think would be a good move overall.
Imo Limit same squad type spam is better move
One of the things I’ve been wondering is how are they going to do some of the stuff, they can’t take away the squads that we’ve already ground out, I can see them limiting the structure of the squads are altering the structure but I can’t see how they would pull a squad from the rotation/ line up, Unless I’m missing something
Simply if a guy have 5 infantry squad
3 assaulter 2 random
After he died with 1 Assaulter squad he cant spawn anymore with an assaulter squad before used 2 different squad
O, right, ya that would work.
Same with the pistols. I have the Hi Power on most of my troops with bolt guns for those close in fights.
