This has really made me think, all the pistols are so powerless that acquiring them is waste of silver orders to be fair.
In a close combat situation it seems to be more effective to just run around with a knife instead of using pistols which really seems kind of unrealistic and weird.
It also devalues the pistols to a class where bothering to acquire them becomes useless.
One option could be to make them greatly more effective and raise their prices higher?
Or to keep their prices where they are but at least make them effective for a shorter range (Below 80 meters)
At the moment you can literally shoot 5 times (Magazine has only 7 bullets) and the opponent runs to you with a knife and kills you?
I mean… I would not be running around after getting shot 5 times with a Walther PKK?
Going in to a tight building with a pistol on your hand should make more sense than using a long bolt-lock action rifle indoors.

Mmmh. I’ve downed countless ppl who thought like you do using either my TT, p38 or (amazing) 1911… those particular ones are so good I’ve taken down entire squads with them… Just need to remember it’s just a sidearm, not the “golden gun” from Goldeneyes
I’m not surprised. you know when you use a sniper guy, but close enough to the battle? ppl tend to underestimate you and charge ahead. If you’re waiting with a good pistol… Most of the time they end up quite sorry!
i feel like pistols are in a pretty good place balance wise at the moment
most are fairly effective (fuck you Negant 1895, useless piece of shit), but not quite as good as a primary weapon. making them an emergency measure, only to be used if absolutely needed. some might call it a sidearm
Honestly, pistols are fine for the moment but are too expensive to get. It is a side army mostly useful for
Snipers with scoped BA rifles
Semi and full automatic equipped soldiers without the large ammo pouch
Radio Operators
Any first soldier of the squad which you use instinctively first just for the fun sakes
I would equip pistols to every soldier if they wouldn’t cost silver order cards which is absolutely nonsense.
The lower tier pistols should cost 3-5 bronze order cards and high tier, 20, or ok 1 silver order card.
no this is totally not true xD of coulse if you use the standard pistol they are useless but for example on Normandy campaign, especially the amrican p1911 is very very strong and also the german pistols are very good…you just need to be able to use them and btw pistols never were used to “run around in close quarter combat” , they have a way lower muzzle velocity than most of the guns and even though their caliber is bigger it makes almost no difference… for example the Kinetic energy that is “transported” by the bullet is: E(kin) = 1/2 * m(mass) * v²(velocity)
When i use them, its because i run out of ammo on my normal guns of just for fun
And of course :
probably you would not but with such a weak bullet like the one the walther PP and PPK use, you probably would keep running, or at least you would not die,except the bullet hits a vital Organ
You my friend either have a skill issue, are using the wrong pistols or both.
I do agree that some are too weak. Mostly revolvers. But some pistols are incredibly effective. If you know how to aim and quickly notice targets, they’re a very nice cqc weapon.
Something like a Walther P38 (my personal favourite) or a high-power are actually very effective weapons.
And that’s just bullshit. 3 shots max and the enemy is dead. If you have a problem with hitting arms and legs, that’s your personal issue.
Plus you reload very quickly.
