Are you limited to perk points because none of my squads are getting anymore, playing rank 2 Americans. Do you have to upgrade to a tier 2 or 3 soldier to get full perks.

each soldiers have stars
let’s take the basic rifleman.
The base stats of a rifleman, are 3/3/3. but your soldier can get random starting stats from -1 to +1 (2/2/2 which are worst possible up to 4/4/4 which are perfect stats)
Then, you add the class bonus points, for the basic rifleman, it’s +1 to all. which makes a perfect stats one star rifleman effectively 5/5/5.

A really poor stats rifleman. canon fodder, really. he got -2 to his stats (worst is -3)
Now the important part.
every star level, will give your soldiers 2 points to every category (“boots, heart and fist”)
BUT the last, fifth star gives 6 points.
So a perfect stats soldiers who had 5/5/5, will in the end have 17/17/17
(5+2=7 7+2=9 9+2=11 then 11+6=17)
A soldier having 17/17/17 can choose the top dog perks costing 16 points. (note, you must waste a precious 6 points in tier 1 perks to access tier 2 and 3 perks first…)
Once you understand all this, know that there’s also soldiers tiers. you feel tier 1 doesnt give you enough perk points? That’s when higher tier soldiers come in. all their points are calculated the same way. they just have a higher bonus point total from their class.
Here’s a perfect tier 3 maxed rifleman. he’s at 19/19/19. He can waste 6 points in starter perks AND STILL choose all 3 16 points top dog perks if he so desire.

You need to unlock red upgrades in squad that’s related to the soldier’s class.
You need to do it everytime you get a better tier of soldier.
