Operation Unthinkable

I was reading this shitshow of a thread (https://forum.enlisted.net/t/yeah-we-beat-the-strongest-navy-in-the-world/59606) and it got me thinking about something I thought of not long after I started playing Enlisted; an Operation Unthinkable campaign. If you are unfamiliar, it was the war plan by the British to continue their march East and enforce the determination of the Yalta Conference, namely achieving “a square deal for Poland.” There was also a variation of the Operation which planned for defensive actions against the USSR should they continue their march West. Operation Unthinkable - Wikipedia

My thought was, that eventually the US and USSR would receive all the small arms equipment needed for such a campaign in Normandy/Pacific and Berlin. Whether it is from existing or likely gold order weapons (M2A1 Carbine, Stinger 1919) or existing premium squads (AS-44, SKS). This would make a potential Operation Unthinkable campaign require relatively little development while delivering a completely fresh experience. The only content they would really need to make from scratch would be the maps and perhaps high-tier tanks (which would just be ported over from Warthunder)

My vision for such a campaign would be well down the line, as more of a fun last hurrah for WW2 campaigns. Premium squads could include the French in German tanks, East/West Germans, men from other Soviet client states, etc.

What do you think? Would you like to (eventually) see this appear as a campaign? Are you against it for being ahistorical? Or perhaps you are against it for some other reason? Let me know what you think.

Berlin late tier weapons are basically alternate history if the Battle of Berlin happened in 1946, especially when they add the RD-44 and AS-44 for regular unlocks.

I think personally it might be interesting, but there are enough real campaigns in World War II to keep them busy for some time.

Crete
Burma
Gudacanal supposedly in the works)
France 40
Sicily/Italy 43/44
Syria
Italian EastAfrica
Alsace 44/45
Nordwind

And those are just off the top of my head, some of them would be using basically recycled equipment, but things like Crete or Syria or France 1940, even a campaign in the Balkans would use a lot of different equipment namely French equipment and that could be a lot of fun.

And then of course there’s post war, Korea would see the use of lots of Russian and actually Japanese equipment as the North Koreans apparently used quite a lot of Japanese arms.

And something I think that would be very interesting as well would be some of the early Arab-Israeli wars, where the Jets still were using guns

It easily could be an event

It could be. But my point was that it could also easily be a campaign when all the assets it would use from other campaigns are completed.

I agree, I was hoping to make it clear that my idea was for this campaign to be the last hurrah of WW2 before we presumably move on to Korea. I would never want to preempt more historical campaigns with this, just that it would be a very interesting direction for them to go in on top of it requiring relatively little development compared to other theaters.

There is a problem dude, keep grind the same thing for 40 lv for 2 new map each time is too much

A lot of those suggestions for possible campaigns would involve different weapons, the Greeks for example used a lot of different weapons from different countries including Italy and France.

Syria would of course be French versus British/commonwealth, and there would be a lot of different airplanes there and different armor.

Of course anything involving the Japanese would be different because that would be Japanese, but a lot of the allied equipment would be similar to what we have now, at least the small arms would be.

Burma has a great deal of potential for having a lot of different kinds of equipment, obviously the Japanese, but during the initial invasion you have commonwealth/British equipment plus all of the equipment that the Chinese were using as well and they drew from a great many different sources so there’s all kinds of potential there.

Crete, The interesting thing about this is you have a German early war equipment and you have Falshijager and Gibergsjager and even Italians, so the equipment list would be something different, and given how creative they are at selecting weapons systems that never really actually saw combat I suspect that they can make things interesting there as well, for the hours of course do you have the Greeks and as mentioned above they had quite a variety of different equipment and you have the British/commonwealth and what’s interesting about them on Crete is that they actually had some captured Italian equipment that they were using as well

Campaign, no.

But I am working about operation unthinkable through mods

Balancing will be a bit though, but I think I’ll remove the ability to get tanks, and spawn a limited amount of them on the map.

Granted, if someone doesn’t make it first like blaz, para or faze.

Those guys are way advance with the editor than I will ever be due to lack of time :upside_down_face: but eventually, someone will make operation unthinkable
