In addition to German troops, 141 divisions and 60 brigades of Finland, Hungary, Romania, Italy and Slovakia operated on the Soviet-German front during the war.
The Soviet-German front was the most intense fighting in the entire Second World War. Of the 1,418 days of its existence, 1,320 days (93%) were occupied by large-scale operations involving large groups of troops on both sides. On the Soviet-German front, fascist Germany suffered the greatest losses in divisions and brigades. They amounted to 508 calculated divisions, while in the Western and Southern theaters of military operations, these losses amounted to 179 divisions. 87 divisions and 8 brigades surrendered to the Soviet troops, 46 divisions and 9 brigades surrendered to the troops of the allies in the anti—Hitler coalition — the United States, Britain and France.
