i personally like the more… uh… roomy UI feeling? like, i can see my squad posing clearer now. but trying to edit my soldiers and squad is more awkward, though that might be because i’m not used to it.
the upgrade tree is mostly shit though. the smaller icon and new layout feels awkward to me, but again might be because i’m not used to it. i appreciate that the weapon upgrade tab shows the actual gun on top of the section tho. i like that change.
also, i’d love if the mobile games i do play have UI like this one, and then hate it after 5 minutes because my finger is fat, and i have to tap a lot of things for basic shit.
that said, the event/mod/custom-game tab being a lot more accessible is IMO a flat out improvement.
it’s the extra clicks and mouse movement you have to do IMO. previously you only need to one click to edit your soldier, and the recent update that give preset thingy make you use even less click. now you might think you need to click the tab on the top of the screen, but you can actually double click the squad list on the bottom instead.
it is still slightly more cumbersome comparatively however.
though if you get used to it, it’s comparatively the same in term of ease IMO. i personally like the information i can see in the squad main menu without needing to open new window.
like, i can see at a glance the composition of each squad soldiers without a big window popping out.
overall, the UI feels like a bizarre sidegrade for the most part. with some weird design choices (looking at you, icon colour changes)
edit: the upgrade tree have shit colouring, making it really hard to differentiate the nodes that’s taken and not.
Ya it kind of bums me out, I definitely think it will only get worse especially once they merge the armies from the different campaigns in the big update. The campaign system they have now works fine and in my opinion adds replayability to the game, idk why they felt the need to change it
