New game mode: weekend "historical" battles (Battle for Moscow)

You can change what you want but you can never balance this


Germany used a lot the kar98k for every soldier, mp40,mg42 was elite weapon this changed wen in the 44 they start give stg with the bread in the morning, but still panzer granadier in the 45 was bad equipped

In the 41 was even worse because of lack of good tank and automatic weapons outiside mp38 and mg34

You cant make historical battle withaut do ahistorical thing or germans get fucked every time from soviet or american wo spam auto weapon like crazy (expecially soviet)

there’s already big invasion simulators on custom matches, sadly no one plays them, it would be great to gather people up and see if this works out well. It wouldn’t be a perfect gameplay, it’s a mod after all, but its something.

I’m afraid though that it only sounds good on paper, but the actual gameplay would be horrifyingly boring. But something like this as an event would be a great way to find out.

Idk… strangely enough this looks balanced (to me)…

Maybe because I’m decent with bolt actions. It’s "balanced " only because devs decided that semi auto does less damage than bolties, because. There’s one more mg42, it compensate :person_shrugging:

I know many would disagree saying more semis = better, but I personally would not struggle on the German side.

However, where are Soviet Mosins??? Svt40 only seems like some elite squads (where are my conscripts or penal battalions)?

I really wouldn’t get crushed by just 2 smg guys…

yeah… it’s somewhat more duable against Ais.

but even then, the new Ais are kinda deadlier with automatic guns than before.

and the more you shoot at them, the more they become accurate.

so, effectively, would become a mil silm where a match might take you an hour. just moving from cover to cover, use binocles to see where the enemies might be etc.

though, i’ll might be interested in that.

They would merely need to make player control conscripts and penal battalions instead to limit those (smgs).

I know most mains keep saying “But Soviets used thousands over thousands of smgs!” While it’s true… Those were quite diluted amongst less well equipped men using regular bolties or whatever they could use.

Especially during the “Moscow” battle. There wasn’t ONLY smgs.

yeah,

against AIs/bots it’s more duable.

first and foremost, AIs can be tweaked.
their efficency.

second of all, even if leave them as they are, they can be somewhat exploited.

more precisely, distance and range can be turned in player’s favor. second of all, even if you are in cqc, you can kinda flank them and pick them one by one just by taking cover behind an object after every shot.
they kinda tend to lose sight of engagement relatively quickly.

Still more armed than panzergranadier in 44, you cant balance german vs soviet withaut shiny unhistorical weapon is a fact, and even if modder do some historical mode they need actually balance the equipment in a way no side get more firepower than the other, something wo actually kill the historical accuracy because you alter the irl squad composition

passed the issue where we cannot issue guns profile to players, we’re not entitled to make stuff balanced :upside_down_face:

that’s the point of historical accuracy games. some people like them, others do not.

( which by the way, not to talk shit to many modders, but yeah, balance is kinda overated in certain mods )

You cant make a 100% historical accurate battle because you need always tweak for mantain the firepower balanced and let only player skill matter

This is a game and need be fun, this mean doing all the necessary for make it fun

you can theorically.

where some lacks of equipment, you can make it up in reinforcements, tickets loss/gain etc.

the only problem i would see, it’s that it won’t please everyone.

Lets make T-34 historical and make its front 50/50 to pen. Problem solved.

I’m not sure I agree with the part that sides should not be chosen as there are so many levels to gain before it’s pointless. I’d personally prefer something like this to be a mode in and of itself. Making use of the larger maps, having a restriction (maybe higher reinforcement cost) for more end gear equipment, making troop transports more useful (jeeps, trucks, etc.). HLL is a popular game, so providing a mode which is essentially a F2P HLL would be popular amongst the current playerbase and is bound to attract people who like the appeal of HLL, but would like a more casual approach to it.
