NEW class - Scouts - abilities, mechanics, maps

A scout class would be awesome, with special abilities like using the sides of the maps, they would be able to ask for indirect fire, spot ennemies, rallies…

In conjunction with a redefinition of the marking system and radio. Only squads with a radio would be able to mark ennemies, and only squads with radio would be able to see the marks on their maps.

That brings us to a Scout squad being able to access the sides of maps( that are currently unaccessible) marking ennemies, spotting tanks and vehicles. (calling for an anti tank gun to be deployed by an other player?)

they would have access to all sort of light vehicles ( horses, bicycles, bikes, sidecar jeeps, schimmwagen, kubelwagen, light truck, armoured car… ), be composed of a driver, sniper, radio and antitanker, some with dual capabilities such as being able to have a MG, medic, engineer… they could also be fully on foot

As long as this scout unit wouldnt open fire, they would be invisible to bots. they would have concealment, camouflage skilld(to be defined) ONLY if they are deployed on the sides of maps and at a certain distances of ennemies. they could cut trees and camo their vehicles ( ) dig positions.

these scouts units would be able to see ennemies much better that regular troops (mechanic to be defined)

A better mechanic for binocular could be implemented.

Maybe non scout units using binoculars looking out for scouts could spot them IF hovering on a spot for a certain amount of seconds.

The maps would need to be reworked (or not) to make these units use the terrains, cross rivers, forest… open ground… ( using schimmwagen to cross water elements, units on horses would be much harder to spot,)

The progression through the BR system would be similar according to the type of weapons but also an increase of capabilities (to be defined) and access to a certain type of vehicle.

A bunch of premium squads with special abilities would be ( brandenburgers, ardennes skorzeny commandos, native americans scouts, SAS, US officer liaison airdropped with french maquisard, full resistance unit with females members, SOE operatives… )

these ideas are not perfect of fully thought through so please feel free to criticise, improve and add to it !

You’re aware of Guerrilla squads yea?

Idk if a new class that does a similar thing to a class we already have should exist, and needing to redesign the whole game around their mechanics kinda points to this not being something fit for the game

Sounds like a whole lot of not fighting the enemy, which is what Enlisted is about. What if like 8 or so players on a team are using the scout class, the battlefield will be empty and nobody playing the objective.

We already have sweats pixel sniping in game we DO NOT need to enable them.
We have radiomen and sniper squads to fill the scouting role as it is.
You wanna go out and flank? Go do it.
Hell we even have the Guerilla class for CQC scouting and flanking maneuvers.

Guerilla do not have radios, cannot access sides of maps, do not have vehicles, …
Guerillas access the grey zone.

Scouts would limited to 1 or 2 per team same as for tanks.

some people enjoy this game with less fighting more support roles.

idk about this. from what I am reading you are asking for a combination of a Rider and Guerrilla team.

  1. I don’t think we should be limiting the marking system at all.

  2. Having access to areas where normal troops can’t access is very powerful (and why the Guerrillas has no extra classes)

  3. being invisible to bots is also VERY POWERFUL. Even if it is only till they start shooting. Having First strike wins you fights before they begin

  4. We should not need to rework maps for one class to function.

  5. Even if you are forced to put a limit to how many squads there could be it still poses an issue
in a 10v10 match if you have 2 tanks, 1 fighter, 1 attacker pilot and 1 scout that is 50% of your team unable to play point. This would be super frustrating to players who want to fight.
