Sandbags and barbed wire are very little useful today, because, at the first bombardment or even hand grenade, they are completely wiped out. So for engineers it’s almost useless to waste their time and risk their life by building them.
Could they be made a bit stronger? Not invulnerable, but about double as much strong as now?
It’s OK when they are demolished by a player, just strength against explosions.
Sandbags, barbed wire and foxholes are completly useless. The gameplay is way too fast for these mechanics and as it mentioned above - one bombardment and everything is destroyed. Planes and artillery should not be able to destroy such things - like in HLL. This is not authentic, but it is a big step for the gameplay.
Yea the durability needs to be replaced but then building them indoors shouldnt happen
Sandbags and barbed wire have saved so many games, just cos you haven’t seen them used right doesn’t mean they can’t be. sandbags in particular are very good at increasing time it gets into point, deployable cover for your squadmates if they want to mount an mg, cover for rallies… i could continue
It is useful but also far too fragile. You spend time building those things and single arty can wipe them all. Sometimes even inside building (last game my ammo box was somehow destroyed by arty, rally survived) or single TNT can do the same so it is mainly good against bots as they are unable to navigate through and bot only squads don’t destroy obstacles (they only shoot their own MGs if they are defending bunker and trying to shoot outside and those pesky MGs happen to be in their line of fire).
But how long do you need to build up a good defense position? I don’t mean to build up 1 sandback cover and 2 barbed wires to cover a rally point. One bombardement and everything is destroyed in 1s. It is not worth the time to build up such a defense position.

AA gun is just better machine gun nest. Change my mind.
Also, Det Packs clear more defenses than Artillery or anything really. I think their overabundance is a bigger issue than that you can’t place sandbags or barbed wire out in the open without worrying abour it being demolished.
Then there is also the fact that without the construction speed perk, you can’t effectively build anything really without leaving a point and assuming you will lose the current one anyways, so you just build more in the back.

I use all the above buildings almost every game. barb wire is more situational and altho it doesnt last long, the remaining wire still plays a noise when it is walked over, giving an important sound queue. Sand bags too might be destroyed quite easily but still deals with MG bullets and some shrapnel quite well at times.
Honestly I feel like people should used the Tank Barricades more, they so good even for cover
yeah they’re underrated asf i remember i used to put those on top of barbed wire on the first point of le bre you know in the lil side room thing when it used to be 1 point all the time?
if we could blow chunks out of sandbag walls instead of it just crumbling i think it would help its viability the closer and more powerful the explosion the more it comes apart.
Sandbags and barbed wires durability is perfect. Why? Because it takes only a few seconds to build them. As such THANK GOD things like arty and tnt break these easily, else some defense points would just become impossible to assault after a short time.
As for their effectiveness… You must not have met many GOOD engineer players… some points are transformed in literal fortresses thanks to them, with chokepoints and ammo everywhere.
