Make Britain and Italy great again (without turning them into factions)

Cheerio!

I know now and then requests for “minor” nations pop up and that’s great.

But UK and Italy are really not “minor”, just hope first we can recover the content from Tunisia (like squads, uniforms, etc.) and fix some of the glaring issues caused by the Merge a year ago, before talking about additional nations/content.

Thanks.

And can’t we just activate Italian non-tropical cosmetics for European maps?

This Italian soldier

Could look like this in Moscow/Stalingrad/Rzhev/Normandy/Ardennes

Instead of this

Or maybe even like this on European non-winter maps?

I think this would look much more ‘Italian’ than just wearing German unifiroms.

The only question is, would those cosmetics be appropriate? @ErikaKalkbrenner

well, ugh.

uk forces were pretty much involved in all theaters. hence makes sense to see them there.

as far as it goes for italians,

they were only present ( that is, current enlisted campaigns ) moscow and tunisia.

technically, even in normandy & stalingrad.
though, by lesser number and / or around the flanks.

but as it goes for Rzhev, Berlin and battle of the bulge, no sir they weren’t there.

problem that we have in enlisted, we lack winter uniform and most uniforms for the italian army.

as… developers didn’t followed through outside Tunisia.
i’m not sure if they are planning on following through either.

because after the merge, available squads of these nationalities are very limited.

Well my specific question to you was more as an Italian uniforms expert: whether those green/blue uniforms would be appropriate for the Italian army in Europe?

ah.

well, yes.

the italian army didn’t had a vaste variety unlike other nations.

but lots of color variety ( different shades of green, gray, light blue, black, etc etc)
so yes, some of the uniforms ( that we already have too ) works fine.

just need more winter options and different colorations.

perhaps ranks and insignias similar to others.
sice the ones we have are somewhat lacking.

So, we are still barely making any progress in this regard.

Even though we can now have British snipers with the nationality change feature

We can make these Americans into Brits

And even though the Sniper Lee Enfield has reportedly been buffed

Yet we STILL can’t have such as simple thing as “British sniper with Lee Enfield in a brodie helmet”:

I think we should have British and Italian as separate factions, exactly as in War Thunder.
As per the Italian faction, my guess is that this will happen only when we have maps covering France '40, North Africa from '40 to '43, Sicily '43, and the 1942-43 campaign on the southern front in Russia (not Stalingrad itself, but the Ukraine in general).
As per the Brits, their absence as a faction is absurd, I hope they will come back soon.

If BR 1-2/3 – sure.

If again BR 1-5 “for balance”, I’d rather not see fantasy Italian BR5 tanks and imaginary British BR5 assault rifles.

But there are already high br british and italian stuff. Firefly, achilles, breda pg etc. Also we might get churchill 7 one day

Yes there are.

But if Britain or Italy were to become standalone factions, the “balance cult” crowd would cry for automatic rifle, assault rifle, Tiger 2 level tank and jets to be added to both.

And that would result in an insufferable amount of paper projects and fakes.

well there are only 2 tech tree high br things for the uk

Well that will inevitably happen if uk and italy get separated. They already have few high br stuff which means that they would get more to fill the empty slots

I would also add about Italian stationary machine guns.

It would also be cool to see more Italian tanks, self-propelled guns and some maps of Italy. For example, Sicily.

At the same time, the English are in dire need of winter clothing in the Ardennes.

Forcing them to fight in the same clothes they wore in Tunisia, adding gloves and balaclavas under their Brodie helmets is a total bloody cringe.

I believe that every future nation (if we gonna have any at all) shouldn’t go up to BR5 at this point. It would be neat, if Italians only go up to BR3 or British have lesser tech tree and go to BR5.
But this wouldn’t be a problem if DF integrates minor nations into their majors (eg. polish/romainan/italian squads in german tech tree). Considering that some tech tree options are in folders, maybe DF could create italian assault squad which would come with berreta M1 and be in folder with MP40. So you have to grind a little more to play as a “minor/alternative” nation.

Have some Finnish snipers in folder with the sniper rifles etc

I hope you get the idea im trying to get across

This idea sounds nice on paper but breaks at the current Enlisted’s system where we’ll see Italy v Britain in Ardennes and Finnish + Romanian troops in Tunisia against French + Polish factions or some BS like that.

All in all, it’s important that every (sub)faction should be hard linked to certain map sets.

If Japan had stayed on the BR3 forever . . . we might have had separate BR3 Italy and Britain.

We already have a system which changes italian troops into german uniform on some maps (except for voice lines) So visually it could be solved. For guns/vehichles it would be a problem, yes.

Having the event Spitfire makes me want to have a proper solid Commonwealth preset again.

Crusader being the best British tank on BR 1-3 really doesn’t help.

Gajflow, give us Valentine, Churchill, Matilda in tech tree already!

There were many versions you could use besides the premiums you already have.
