Make AA guns useful again

Ever since they took away the quad barrel AA gun, not just because the barrel diference, AA guns have been almost useless. Yes, they can kill planes, but really badly armored ones go down easily like the biplanes in moscow and the pacific(you rarely see them though). The overheating is really unrealistic, if you hold down shoot, you overheat and have to wait for around 15 seconds to shoot again, then you have only 5 bullets left to magically take out that enemy plane.these AA guns do not deal enough damage to enemy planes to be effective, one match I played me and another player were both on flak guns in Normandy shooting at a P47, neither of us did :poop: to it despite emptying my ammo and refilling it again, and I saw quite a lot of shots from the other guy go at it. you can hit it in the engine or the rudder and it doesn’t affect it at all, just keeps on flying and delivering thousands of pounds of explosives every 20 seconds without a care in the world.the old ones were effective because they could shoot 4 bullets at once and drain it at the same time, while I think having the same caliber, using it on the train in Berlin reminds me how terrible they are now and how good they were. another glaring issue about the flak gun is its elevation. this in real life could just to fire at ground targets and when installing them, made it to where they could shoot at ground targets as well, and was present way back when, but some company people got it removed from the game, will it hurt that much to have a severely neutered panzer 2 that is stationary be built by engeneers? especially in higher theirs, where tanks just bounce 20 mils all day and the players are game smart. this game has removed historical accuracy in the name of balance too many times, often unnecessarily too, like not allowing flak guns depress low enough to hit low flying planes and ground targets, like they could do. These can be easily countered as well, any tank can destroy the flak cannons In a single hit with AP, and larger can do it with HE, players can flank them and shoot them, if they are greyzoning and they are focused on infantry bomb them. @ParaDivision s Video does a good job of explaining this https://youtu.be/aepdBSC-7Pk?si=5XHMpgjoWOyHEIxn hopefully these get a much deserved buff, whether it be damage elevation or both, it will be welcome, because it’s better to use HMGs as AA than an AA gun

because no one would use them as AA guns but anti-tank anti-infantry guns

Really? P47 spam won’t stop with this, it would just let you have more opportunities to kill infantry, and they themselves are easily countered by infantry and tanks alike, and 20 mils will only be really effective on low BR tanks that don’t know where you are

Aka how exactly they were used in WW2, you could add some nerf to the dmg per bullet against the infantry but also buff it against the planes.

so its no different then hmg nest now then so why not the gunner is more open

or increase points for tank and plane kills with them but less for troops

We definitely need way more xp per plane kills because pilot can just bail out at any time if it’s just smoking or burning and you get no xp for his ass while with tank it’s always 3-5 kills and sometimes more like with M3 Grant.

also people found ways to use AAA vs troops place at bottom of hill or stair case troops have to use

As someone who uses planes quite a lot, AA is certainly still deadly to planes, especially given that the majority of pilots happily fly around within the AA’s engagement envelope, in part forced by the performance of the aircraft ingame and in part by the restricted battlespace.

For accurate attacks with aircraft ordnance, planes have to follow fairly predictable paths, an AA gun that remains hidden until planes are diving in for an attack is almost guaranteed a plane kill. An AA gun that doesn’t fire until it’s too late for enemy planes and relocates often will at the very least completely neuter enemy aircraft that are determined to stay alive, that last part being a big caveat and a core issue with the game; especially for defenders and people with multiple vehicles slots, it’s often just as easy as dumping the plane and jumping in another.

tl;dr AA guns are still pretty effective due to how the game works, but similarly it can sometimes at best only reduce the overall effectiveness of enemy air attacks rather than stop them completely due to how easy it is to constantly spam vehicles.

HaHaHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! 90% of AAA fire misses if you do fire first make sure its in the planes back or you just make yourself the bombers target.

no i go up and dog fight or just use a tank cannon as they pass, Moscow AT cannon to bomber tail was my fave shit ever. but i shot planes with pistols. But i dont even worry about AAA unless its a vehicle mount when i fly cause its not a threat most the time

I doubt you ever played moscow when the quad AA could target ground targets.
super fun it was, built AA gun somewhere in between houses so enemy infantry had no way of taking the AA out → proceed to shoot thru walls to cap point and killing everyone without enemy having a slightest chance to do anything about it.

Well nowadays it probably wont pen thru walls but due to 0 rng unlike HMG im quite sure the AA would be used as high mag sniper, killing ppl across the map without a care in the world.

“Easily” is quite subjective if a tank is required everytime someone builds AA to edge of map to just mow down infantry I wouldnt really consider it as easy.

They’re in a very good place atm.
Not too easy (as before) and not too hard.

Now it’s more like an actual fight between the pilot and AA-gunner (as Keckles pointed out).
That’s also how it should be.

I use them fairly often (all sides) and they work just great for me.

What’s the problem?

they have to increase the depression of aa gun aim like 5 degrees

I agree with this.

Only 2 problems I have with AA is stupid high overheat rate and no gun depresion.
Othen than that I think they are ok.

Oh, also pilot suiciding should give AA gunner a kill.
