How likely it is that second generation Chinese Americans, who were born in the US, went to an American school, college, maybe worked in an American company, were drafted and drilled by American sergeant, then got sent to Tunisia of all places, as part of the US army - would then start speaking Chinese in battle?

soldiers didn’t have had to speak the same language. only officer for that matter.
which, even back then, such issue was prelevant among the soviet union, germany ( with hiwis, ostruppens etc ) and i would presume, the allies too.
hell, even americans couldn’t figure out englishmen with their accent sometimes.
to which, there is no indication that this squad comes from the US just because they happen to fight under the same flag.
( same for the french partisans or moroc squad for that matter ).

From my own experience, I am interested in Cinema and all sorts of True Crime topics. And among Chinese immigrants and not only, among the first, second, third generations, it is a tradition to communicate in Chinese, within the family circle. In principle, this is not only for the Chinese, but for them, due to their more closed mentality, it is more important.
You just have some kind of selective historicism. The rifle is certainly complete surrealism, but the Chinese themselves in the US Army have nothing supernatural. Moreover, they can be dressed in American uniforms and they have their own unique appearance on each front, as Helper said.
What problems then?
