The MP35
Let me start with the MP 35. It’s in an odd position. The ZK-383 and recently downtiered Beretta M38 compete in the same BR. Let me just highlight some of the differences.
ZK-383
- 700 rpm
- 30 round magazine
- Bipod
- 5.6 damage
*Lowish recoil
Beretta M38 (previously BR IV)
- 600 rpm
- 40 round magazine
- 5.6 damage
- Lowest recoil
MP 35
- 540 rpm
- 32 round magazine
- 6.0 damage
- Extremely high recoil
Now why would you use the MP 35 (or even the ZK-383 for that matter)? The Beretta M38 basically does what the two SMGs do, but better. Since the ZK-383 is unique in being a fast firing SMG and having a bipod, and the Beretta M38 had beautiful recoil, good fire rate and a large magazine, what does the MP 35 do that is actually better than the other SMGs (other than hit power).
For a BR II SMG, the high visual recoil makes sense, however, for a BR III SMG, it’s way too high to be useful. The M1928A1 Thompson fires a harder hitting round, but still has less recoil. Which brings me onto my next point.
The M1A1 Thompson
The M1A1 isn’t really trying to compete with any SMGs in BR II, so I’ll cut to the chase. Much like the MP 35, I feel the visual recoil is way too high. Now, I don’t care if it gets uptiered to BR III because of the lessened recoil, but I feel it kicks way too hard compared to the rest of the Thompson family. Plus, I hate the sights of the M1928A1.
Which brings me onto . . .
The Proposal
- Reduce the visual recoil for both the M1A1 Thompson and MP 35, even if it means uptiering the Thompson
I believe the M1A1 Thompson never really belonged on BR II (that’s what the Lanchester and M3A1 Grease Gun is for). With lessened visual recoil, it would make it a much more satisfying gun to use, especially since it’s sights are so much more comfortable than the M1928A1.
As for the MP 35, it would bring relevance to the weapon in BR III, as it’s overlooked for the ZK-383 and Beretta M38. Hell, I still use the MP 40 in BR III because I prefer the sights and recoil pattern of it compared to the BR III counterparts.
