The squad aspect and ability to level up, equip soldiers, perks, the whole thing is awesome. The UI is a huge hurdle though. It’s not intuitive at all and the progression system seems to be all over the place.
Rube Goldberg would be proud.

UI / HUD definitely need some overhaul. Wouldn’t mind if it looked aesthetically pleasing too.
It takes a while to get used to it but after a while you will figure it out.
Yeah, I believe I could get used to it and just work through it. It is a major hurdle though and I can’t imagine trying to teach someone it.
I actually was going to buy some gold; however, with how bad the UI/Progression/Monetary system is I still don’t even know what that actually would mean and decided against it. I actually really like complex games too, so it’s not really the complexity itself, but the presentation.
Hopefully, they streamline it.
Yeah you should play it for a while before spending money … Oddly enough I am enjoying the micro management of my squads and soldiers almost as much as the battles.
Seems like I can spend a great bit of time just doing admin stuff between battles.
It’s not even about getting used to it, it’s just way too much clicking through menus to do simple stuff like changing soldier loadouts.
