So, while I was searching for which foreign weapons that the germans used, I found probably the most complete list of all the foreign weapons and equipment used by the germans during WW2, and it is located on the german wikipedia website, even the english wikipedia article is far from being this complete.
The sections that interest us the most are the D. 50/1 and D. 50/2, but feel free to check out the others too.
Here is the link:
One of the things I would really like to see is the german name for foreign weapons in the german tree in game, and not their “original” name, so that it can show that these weapons were truly used by Germany during WW2.
Important notes:
It seems that the germans did not include the weapons that I suspect began their production when the country was occupied, for example:
The FNAB-43 was indeed used by the germans but production began when they were occupying northern Italy. Even Hugo Schmeisser apparently participated in its conception. The official german designation was MP 43(i).
The ZK-383 probably (?) has a similar story, because a part of Czechoslovakia was invaded by Germany before WW2, and its production only began in 1938, so they probably considered it a “geman” weapon since it was made in a territory that they considered “german” ? Its official german designation was MP 383(t).
On the other hand, for example, the Browning HP made in Belgium was produced before the german invasion, so it is present in this list, and I guess they kept its designation even when the gun was produced for them in Belgium. Its official designation was P. 640(b).
Another thing: in the book I often use as a source, it said that the le MG 122(r) was attributed to the Maxim Kolesnikov machine gun ,while on the website, it says that it is for the Lewis guns captured in Russia.
I think it might be for the Lewis, because: the Maxim Kolesnikov was not adopted by USSR, and only a very small number was produced, so there probably weren’t anymore left, when we know that most of the Maxim Tokarev machine guns, which was adopted by the USSR, were given to republican spanish. And also, this book was published in 2011, so some information could be outdated or missing, because for example some japanese weapons are missing in the section for Japan.
The book in question: Amazon.fr
That’s it, sorry for the wall of text, and enjoy the information.
