Franco-Thai War 1940-1941 Thailand VS France
Continuation War 1941-1944 Finland VS U.S.S.R.
I propose the addition of maps and tech/factions from each of these.
Australia should be a sub faction of a separate UK-Commonwealth tech tree. Aussie weapons are already in game and DF has uniforms ready.
Syria Lebanon would add much needed variety to the ‘desert’ maps in game which are currently all in generic Tunisia.
Thailand is an interesting case. It was neutral at first but then joined Imperial Japan. It used both Japanese and American tech.
I would propose Thailand as a sub faction of Imperial Japan as Thailand was a minor Axis power for most of the war and declared war on the UK and USA.
Indochina maps would likewise be an excellent addition to the game for more variety, particularly for Japan.
France would be the only ‘new’ whole faction. This has been discussed in other posts, however I will outline what is relevant here.
France should represent both Free France and Vichy France, along with the BENELUX countries as a sub tree. (can explain more on that if necessary)
France would be a unique faction as players would have the ability of being queued for either Allied or Axis battles.
In Syria Lebanon French players would be Axis, while in Thailand they would be French Allies.
(Note: the Franco Thai war was a combination of colonial ‘Allied’ France AND Vichy France, I have chosen to make the French ‘allied’ in this instance since I believe historically it is most appropriate for Thailand to be a sub faction of Japan as outlined above).
I would guess most people here are familiar with the Continuation War.
Finland would be a sub faction of a separate Italian tree which would include the various minor Axis powers.
We already have some Finnish weapons in game. I have specified the Continuation War since by that time Finland was officially considered Axis while the USSR was considered Allies.
This would give more variety for Germany-USSR maps and I know the Winter War/Continuation War has often been requested.
I propose these for a number of reasons. Variety as I have said, also recognition of lesser known conflicts in WWII and combining those just giving players something different that hasn’t been done before.
I also took into consideration each current faction (along with the proposed French faction) having sub factions.
(China is the other nation that could be a faction, it was suggested to myself China could be a good sub faction of either the USA or USSR since both supported it. I will leave that for another post but mention it in relation to major factions having sub factions)
