And the US probably didn’t want to wear down its own young generals by going along with a dying opponent when it was almost winning the war.

Japan still have their forces in Manchuria with the Kwantung Army that could be recalled back to Japan itself for the defense of the islands but they were destroyed by the Soviets in August 1945.
The conversation reminds me of the classic film “Downfall”.

That’s nonsense the Japanese where peaceful nation they never did nothing crazy the stick-mounted shape charge was humanitarian aid weapon. They did more advance humanitarian weapons of this type like the Yokosuka MXY-7 Ohka this was literally a peaceful plane … no weapons on it not a single machine gun or a bomb…xD

Most of their best pilots, and soldiers were dead, they were running out of manpower and materials, and they were boxed in on all sides.
While I do not admire the ideas they fought for, I must admire their bravery and their devotion.

Great picks all around, I’d also mention that the Type Hei automatic rifle (experimental ultra light machine gun) has both 20 and 30 round magazine options, as well as compatibility with a gun shield and apparently bayonet, so there’s a few different potential configurations they could introduce with it to provide multiple different offerings.

Additionally, I think Japan could see expansion of its pistol offerings, such as the integrally suppressed Nambu and the Type 4 shotgun pistol.
