They are Japanese combat engineers equipped with Chinese tommy with curved mag. How do we recognize it well by the curved mag and the smooth barrel that are very common for Chinese Thompson copies.
Its a Chinese copy of the M1928 however there is a bit of debate how they came in China :
I strongly believe that they are produced in Shansi during the mid 1930s however there is another also very strong theory:
‘‘Per Tracie Hill’s “Thompson: The American Legend” page 232, it is a Savage 9mm Thompson built in October 1941. Unknown end user request for 12,000 of these and no serial number info is available.’’
But since they are captured and used by Japan i think they are locally produced Shansi tommie’s.
They can be BR III Event or Premium squad. They will be equipped with body armor and nice hats with glasses.
For some reason I never noticed the curved magazine on the Thompson submachine gun in this photo.
Perhaps the Taiyuan Arsenal was involved here, they conducted many experiments with Thompson submachine guns and based on it they made their own submachine gun chambered for the Mauser cartridge, which was designated the Sichuan Type submachine gun (note that in the photo it is shown on the right, to the left of it is a Thompson with an unusual butt integrated with a pistol grip, which resembles the Japanese Type 2).
Yeah, honestly nothing to complain about, especially if they get the curved mag to really make it a unique weapon. Im sure the US could get a similar squad to match them, engineers with a thompson of their own or etc.
Side note, Im late posting this message because my PC got a BSoD the literal second after an error popped up here when it failed to post this message.
Doesnt mean it has to continue, I have no issues allowing the Japanese to get special treatment here, seems like a nice way to make up for the fact its been so long and they still havent got assault engineers.
Look at the barrels the Chinese copies all have very smoot barrel and the handles also lacked during the war they where putting less details on their tommie’s. There is many copies but the smoot barrel is something very unique on some of them that you cant see on the US ones. In time they started to put more details like wooden grips but the earliest where very basic. There is a lot of other strange monstrosities produced there:
I would give future Combat Engineers a machine gun, after all, the options for Japanese machine guns have not yet been exhausted, so a six-man squad with a Japanese clone of the Lewis machine gun would probably be a good squad, or a squad with a Type 11 with increased ammunition and an optical sight would also be suitable
I would actually like Manchuria as a subfaction for the Japanese - it would at least make sense to use the KE7 and Type I, plus would be so much cooler.
