At the moment, Japan only has bolt-action sniper rifles. However, on the Pacific Ocean maps with their size, sniper weapons could be very much in demand, even if we are not talking about an entire sniper squad, but about snipers in other squads.

“The Type 97 sniper scope is designed to be mounted on sniper rifles, but in the future, if automatic rifles are developed, this scope can also be mounted on them.”
I would like to point out that the Type 97 optical sight was tested in parallel with the development of the Type Ko, Type Otsu and Type Hei rifles. Also, the design of the Type 97 sight mounts and the rifles presented below are the same.

The early Type Hey rifle has a scope mount on the left side of the receiver.
The late Type Hei has a slot on both sides, but it is physically impossible to install a Type 97 sight on the right side, perhaps it would have been easier to make a symmetrical receiver.
Moreover, in Jiro Sayama’s book “小銃拳銃機関銃入門”, Sayama also writes that automatic rifles (late Type Hei short and long, as well as Type Ko short and long) have a mount for optical sights and the ability to attach a bipod.
The Type Hei also has a slot for mounting an optical sight, almost identical to that of the Type 97 rifle.
Some long Type Otsu had a scope mount on top of the receiver (maybe some short Type Otsu also had fastenings, but I have not come across such examples).
There were many variants of the Type Ko produced and some of them had a scope mount on the left side of the receiver. As mentioned above, Jiro Sayama writes in his book that Type Ko rifles were equipped with optical sights.

Unfortunately I couldn’t find any document on JACAR about the Type 99 sight, so I took information from the Internet, on average they all quote Japanese Wikipedia (in fact, Japanese Wikipedia articles are of good quality).
Kokura Arsenal automatic rifle, probably from the early 1940s, has a mount for a telescopic sight on the left side of the receiver.
Document A03032103400 on JACAR states that the Type 4 rifle is suitable for sniper shooting. Unfortunately, I was unable to find a rifle with a mount for a scope, but I will note that the Type 4 has a blank smooth surface on the left side of the receiver that would be well suited for a mount.
I would appreciate any additional information on the Type 4 sniper!
