Look up the definition of assault rifle. They are both objectively not. The BAR is great, but it flies through ammo and needs to be reloaded constantly. Type 96 is just as good and it has 10+ rounds and is more controllable.

I just had a Japanese game so bad I’ll probably never play again. Everything is inferior. The self propelled AA is useless as a tank, the Ha-Go is pathetic (enjoy switching seats so you can have a chance to fire your 20 (!) round MG), the Hei is worst than the bolt actions, the Type 11 has bad accuracy, bad recoil, bad RoF AND bad sights.
But the worst of all, as in all the other theaters, is the team stacking. Chinese guys farming their level 30 tanks and planes. All day. Are they having fun? because I’m not.

What definition you want for anything put in quotes?
Any definition would be irrelevant for this game anyway, but yes in real world m2 carabine would be considered carabine capable of firing a cartridge intermediate in power between submachine gun and rifle cartridges and also with selective fire.
But in this game they act like those so called assault rifles, something like FG42 should be considered main battle rifle becouse its capable of firing full-power cartridge with ability to selective fire, which doesn’t matter in this game at all…

The M2 carbine lacks the stopping power to be an AR, but it’s not quite an SMG either. It’s just a light rifle or an early PDW. To be perfectly clear, the M2 carbine should be limited to assaulters only, since in the games terms it functions closest to an SMG.

I just can’t share your frustration becouse i didn’t experience it playing as Allies in Pacific, i will say more it was even easier than playing Allies in Tunisia in it’s peak.

Type 97 ATR shouldn’t be nerfed, Japan does not need any improvments in regards of handheld AT rifles.
As i mentioned they need to rethink tanks and vehicles balance in Pacific.

Both M2 carabine and StG44 have almost equal damage per shot in this game. It’s definitly not light rifle and it’s not PDW. As i said it’s classified as Selective-Fire Carabine.
